Quake 3 and Q3 engine games are good if you have a computer somewhere north of ~800MHz and with a good GFX card and a big hunka RAM.

WTF!?

Permanent Banning for simply being good!!?

Punkbuster would never do that kind of shit to you...

EDIT: Even when I get 7 impressives in a row or take out a 5 man assault team with three rails (that'll teach those bozos to bunch up like that!) I don't get called 'Cheater' or 'Bot' or ye old "OMG J00 CH347!NG PH4G H0W'D J00 KN0W ! W45 7H3R3 BULL5H!7 W4LLH4X0R!!!!!11 :( "! Of course <-gLu-> is a really hella kool clan to kick it with anyway :)

It wasn't for simply "being good", if you look down he was doing horrible. He was running HLAmp, that could have done it (VAC doesn't like anything that messes with HL directly)

Planet side was pretty good when i beta tested it. You can do every thing from fly a bomber to drive a tank or wear power armor. It released too early but they fixed most of the problems im planning on picking it back up when i return to my broad band connection.

Seconded.
"Third-ed." NS 2.0 will be out shortly. It's supposed to add many things (mainly for aliens) and fix the various bugs of 1.0 (1.4).

Most Texas Counter-Strike servers have decent people in them. I avoid the Jolt servers like the plague though.

BF1942 stomps on DoD IMO, but to each his own. If you can wait till September Jedi Academy is looking pretty good. Hopefully the online community will take longer to go the way of J-O.

Even Ricochet? ::shudder:: At least you said "anybody promoted" and I hope no one will promote that. Is good for a laugh though.

I might play it again then...

I agree with both points of that. Jolt is mostly Euorpe tho, isn't it? Anyway, find a good local clan server(s), get to know the people in them. Maybe there's a local LAN party in your area, and you can go see the people you play with in person. It makes the game a lot more fun when you can match faces to names, and you want to help out them and listen and stuff, methinks.

Agreed, but Dod can be fun (hehe, I own a legal version of Half-Life+DoD, but not of BF1942, so I tend to play that a lot more)

JA is looking good, yes. Why the online community thing tho? Other people are essental for a multiplayer game. Why do you hope that?

It has been promoted. It is pretty fun, but not the kind of thing you play in a league or form clans around or anything.

Although one person already mentioned it, I must heartily recommend Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Very few things are more fun than running around as a covert ops and blowing the enemy command post.

On second thought, the old classic, best game you've never heard of: Allegiance

The original mix of FPS, RTS, and teamplay. In space. Hell of a learning curve though, not for people who don't like to think.

Yea, but I suck at Counter-Strike and don't feel like getting laughed at.

The J-O community is just pretty shitty in general. I don't even bother with any servers but my three favorites (<AIM>, {MOTL}, and Red Hand).

I just get annoyed having to use the same tactics over and over again to beat some guy whose spammed Red Stance or the Saber Throw/Force Pull exploit. I'd rather just duel with my clan or other people I know online.

Anyways, Jedi Academy is looking pretty solid from the get-go and it looks like LA will give Raven the support they need this time. So it should shape up to be a pretty great online (and off-line) game.
