Slashdot, I want their fucking heads on spike outside the fucking WTC ground zero.
The utter tastelessness of this is what seperates it from a Pearl Harbor mod. Pearl Harbor commemorates the fact that valient men died trying to save the ship. The Japanese, as well, while slightly unscrupulous, hit a valid military target, and kept collateral at a minimum.
The World Trade Center was a civilian target hit with unconventional civilian weapons. There where mostly innocents, few military personel.
This little fucks deserve every ounce of pain one could muster upon them. They deserve the tortures saved for the darkest pits of hell. If legality wasn't an issue, i would fucking put a bullet in there chests and watch them slowly die to internal bleeding the little fucking pukes.

Spawn points in different parts of building; some have possiblity for survival, some don't
* Can escape because user is at low level
* Rushing through dark stairwells with cellphone == escape

* Floor in flames - can't escape
* Ceiling collapses
* Have to choose between being engulfed by flames or jumping from window
* Cement/building dust/smoke make it difficult to breathe; no facemask causes life to deplete, so find facemask
WTF?

creator of the mod.
Have a very nice day.

This is from the main site:
9-11 Survivor is a game project that examines the role of media in our culture, and the influence that continuous, hyper exposure has on our overall perception of the distinctions between reality and media mediation. This project raises questions regarding how and why popular media forms, such as games and movies, deal with tragedy, conflict and violence.
Perhaps they really do have legitimate reasons for this project...
They might be examining how people can play extremely violent games that revolve around hurting and killing other people and yet remain indifferent to the violence. They could be trying to understand how and when violence and killing becomes "fun" or acceptable.
Basing a game on the terrorist attacks of September 11th brings the violence and death much closer to the player, forcing them to really think about what they're doing. In a way, this game is similar to many other violent games that attempt to be realistic, like Counter-Strike, except it removes the distance between the player and the game world drastically.
Is this game tasteless because it's about innocent people dying, or is it really because the event actually happened and occured very recently? I would tend to believe the latter, since we play games based on the world wars, Korea, Vietnam, and even the 1993 conflicts in Somalia. So by playing the aforementioned games, does that make us hypocritical for calling this particular game tasteless?

So the gameplay will consist of running down 100 stories worth of stairs?
Oh yeah. Sounds like a winner. Hopefully there's a "jump out the window" option.

I think the main difference is that you can't shoot back. I wouldn't download this because it doesn't even seem fun.
