Good work, but it is too symmetrical to me, try to make it more random, but not loosing sight of the sense of purpose.

*sigh* I suck at greebling, I don't have the imagination to greeble decently.

LOL. Tell that to the poor sods who get killed, when something comes crashing through the windows! (after the shields went down, of course.
Hah! Yes, I was browsing Justin's pics for inspiration when one of his ships turrets inspired me. ;) Didn't know anyone at SDN knew about Zaon tho.
I've seen them initially in Starship Desktops (I think, ended in their site through the adress in the images), then later again on Sci-Fi Meshes, his artwork is incredible.

Well if you're using turrets, some manner of barrel is necessary, you need to be able to rotate the thing otherwise you might get dispersal caused by post-collimator diffusion. however, that doesn't mean the barrels have to stick out of the entire turret. :)
Yeah, whatever, dude! (just kidding...)
You're right, there is no need to have a barrel sticking out, this way there will be less material and systems outside armoured/shielded protection.

Thats why theres a buttload of shield generators in the front! :) If I told you the shield ratings you'd choke. ;)

I got banned from SFM. Nano wont let me back but Pimp's cool with it. Grr. Damn that nano. And I offered fellatio, too!

the shielding itself is far enough from the hull to make that a non-issue. Its a bubble-shield, but made up of a patchwork of smaller spheroid sections layered over one another to make a larger spheroid around the ship. the armor also has special properties that deflect incoming XMat bolts.
