I have alot of rap in my cd collection but i am very picky. I hate that Glam rap shit. Like Nelly, Puffy daddy and Jay Z. The good rap they never play on tv or radio Like the Black eyed peas or the Roots. Old cypress hill stuff is pretty good and busta rhymes old stuff was real good to. Eminem is ok... he is funny to say the least but i would never buy one of his cds

Rap occasionally throws out a few gems, the same way you'd probably find something valuable if you searched through enough cow shit with your bare hands.

People who are knowledgable about rap will tell you the same thing people who are knowledgable about rock will: the shit you hear on the radio is commercial garbage. Before you piss all over rap, consider: would somebody who heard nothing but Avril Lavagine, Papa Roach, and Creed get a good impression of rock? You may not like the style (I mostly don't myself) but don't judge the entire genre on Jay-Z and Puff Daddy.

From what I know, rap has very much to say about very little.

And I don't listen to it for that reason, except for a fat Danish rapper who goes by the nickname of "L. Ron Harald". He simply combines Jutlandian rural culture with urban rap culture in a way that's so bizarre, it's hilariously ridiculous.

Essentially what rap music came from, can be like rap music, but with instruments and the like, cypress hill and stuff is hip hop, i think. RATM consider themselves hip hop.

Lets see now, I didnt like rap the first time I got it through the walls at Uni from the next rooms along... has my opinion changed any? Nope. Not a jot. Cant stand the new stuff, some of the old stuff I can just about tolerate, but then, I'm not sure that all of that is actually classed as rap.

I like some. Very little. LL Cool J reminds me of better days. And some of Eminems lyrics can be very clever. But on the whole i can't stand the scene and the people in it. Any man that calls another dog as a term of endearment is asking to be shot.

Anyways, rap is garbage. Elvis would beat the unholy nonsensical "gansta, thug, shizzle" crap outta those punks without hesitation. That's why we need more people like Elvis today. Meh. Some is ok, fun to listen to in the right mood, that kind of thing. Most just seems to be one guy after another bragging about how tough he is. Every time I see 50 cent I get the impression that Eminem and Dr. Dre made a bet that they could take the next moron they found and make him a star.

I myself love rap, hip hop and R&B. I know some of it are garbage. But i can say everything you guys saud about rap to rock. Just listening to that crap gives me a headache(well not all of it).

You were doing so well with your list till you put these two in there but all joking aside Red I had it right. Most of you guys are probably basing rap off of what you hear on the radio and even some of the rap groups and bands SAMAS listed would agree that commerical rap sucks ass.

It can be done well, but very rarely. 98% percent of the time, it sucks more than a toothless hooker.

Most of it sucks. There are a few(very, very few) rap songs that I like but I don't go looking for those songs on the radio or anything. I don't like the fact that there is hardly anything different. Most is about pimps, bitches, and "mo money".

I like about 3% of rap, and that shit that is played on the raido at work is so fucking annoying! I HATE that fucking magic stick song!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like a few individual songs, (Because I Got High, Lose Yourself, and What Would You Do, for example) but on the whole, I hate rap.
