What has XBOX got?

Halo, KOTOR, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Mechassault, Phantasy Star Online, Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick, Hitman 2, Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams, Ghost Recon and Ghost Recon: Island Thunder, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, Splinter Cell, Pirates of the Caribbean, Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War, Jedi Outcast, Morrowind, Timesplitters 2, Unreal Championship, The Thing...

And those are just the ones that I've tried.

Sure, some of those are also on PC, or other consoles. So what? Because they're on a different platform, they're suddenly rendered un-fun? Bull and shit, my fanatical friend. To claim that Xbox has "essentially" two games shows either your gross ignorance on the matter, or an idiocy of the utmost proportions.

My 7-year old son loves the game "Totaled". It's not exactly a game with a lot of depth, but it's great fun for birthday parties and get-togethers with his friends. But there are more kid-friendly games for GC than XBox. He just got XBox because his friends have XBox.

I have almost enough Air Miles points for a GC, so I think I might get one for the boys' bedroom. The XBox is in the basement.

Actually, he's trying to say that there is no real "killer app" that makes you want to buy XBox over the competition except for Halo and KOTOR. If a game exists on every platform, it does not constitute an advantage for any particular platform. And there are actually a lot of games only available on the PC platform.

And vastly greater graphic performance, not to mention flexibility. Have you compared a modern graphics card to an XBox or a typical computer monitor to a typical TV lately? Moreover, every household needs a computer anyway, so most people already have one or more.

Actually I find the greatest advantage the computer has is that you can usually find emulation for a number of old (and even some new) video game consoles

As much as I loved and played the hell out of KoTOR I would be an ignorant moron not to see the product had bugs that are at some points GAME-STOPPING(one of them at a point that makes no sense...the Mission-Carth bug in particular)

I've run into the Galaxy Map as well as the random Save Bug...neither were fun and quite unexpected.

Good game but I'll take the extra cost for more then likely a patch that'll take out most of the bugs from day 1.

Not just patches but also hacks and mods. Think of all the PC games that have been modded up the wazoo by PC game enthusiasts. You can download fan-made map packs, weapon mods, game mods, everything. I've seen mods for first-person shooters that completely change the game experience.

And who hasn't enjoyed the fun of cracking open the INI files from a C&C game and tinkering with the game variables? It adds a whole new dimension of entertainment and replayability.

He's my little list of why I would choose GC:
Rogue Squadren III(and what seems to be the largest and best one yet), Soul Caliber II with Link, LoZ:Wind Waker, Resident Evil 0-4 and Code Veronica, Metroid Prime, Mario Cart: Double Dash, LoZ Four Swords(co-op Legend of Zelda with a definate lean towards LttP design wise but with cell graphics http://www.zeldaheadquarters.com/newsaug2003.htm ), Sonic(if they ever make a new one), and Phanasy Star Online III.

And all except for Resident Evil 1-3 and CV are Gamecube only.(atleast for now with PSOIII and I know that Soul Caliber II is on other systems, thats why I added with link)

And over three times the complexity. People buy consoles because it's SIMPLE and EASY. Getting a computer is either a ripoff (buying from a major name brand) or painfully difficult (building it yourself) for those without the experience.

Think of it this way: A console is an appliance, like a toaster or a microwave. A computer is a tool, like a table saw. You wouldn't compare a toaster to a table saw, would you?

I bought my PS2 primarily for SquareSoft. Unfortunately, Square's PS2 efforts (with the wonderful exception of FFX) have been mostly disappointing thus far. If it weren't for GTA and Xenosaga I would be disappointed with my purchase.

It's sad what happened to Square. They've been raising the bar since FFVII and they end up getting swallowed by Enix, a company that quite frankly hasn't made an influential RPG for years (that's not to say Enix makes low quality games, it's just not a company known for innovation). And then they go crawling back to Nintendo...now, I have nothing against Nintendo these days, but back when Square defected and went Sony I was absolutely seething with anger at Nintendo. I stuck by Square throughout the entire PS1 era, even when hating FFVII became trendy. Then came the Final Fantasy movie, and everything after that just went to shit. Then, Square went back to Nintendo, which was like a gigantic personal defeat. I never wanted to be a cynical ex-fanboy, but that's what I am now. I'm hoping that Square will rebound with Final Fantasy XII and completely blow everyone away, but I wouldn't bet on it.

We need another 2d Final Fantasy. You know, something the creators can pour their heart into. FFVII and so on just didn't compare to the previous installments. You'd think the disaster that was FFIX would convince them to do better, but nooo

Smash Bros Melee is the closest thing there is to a flagship game for the Game Cube. Besides that, there is not one game that had everyone running to the stores to buy the console. Xbox had Halo and DOA2, PS2 had Metal Gear Solid and FFX.

In America, the console side of the industry is in a thorough rut, if only in terms of innovation and excitement. PC dudes have several awesome titles to look forward to.

I'd go for a Cube, but then again I already have both. Cube was great for me since I've been a Nintendo fan since I was a kid, despite the lack of games. There might not be a hell of a lot of Cube games, but what there is is fairly high quality, especially with their flagship characters. I mean, Mario Sunshine, while annoying, did look damn good (despite horrid play control), and both Zelda: Wind Waker and Metroid Prime were absolutely spectacular, not to mention Skies of Arcadia: Legends, which is among the best RPGs I've ever played (in the top three along with Chrono Trigger and FF6). It also has Rogue Squadron III and Soul Calibur II with Link as a hidden character.

The PS2? Well, it has a DVD player and quite a few awesome games, not to mention a pretty large RPG catalogue, but the Cube caters more to my tastes.

I would say get the Gamecube, if for nothing other than the fact that the PS/PS2 controller gives me cramps. Hell, I even like the Xbox controller more, and that's saying something.

EDIT: Currently, I have... Enter the Matrix, Eternal Darkness, James Bond 007: Nightfire, Metroid Prime, Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader, Supersmash Bros Melee.
My current wanted list... F-Zero GX (just watched the trailer: *drool*), Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike (where you can play RS2 co-op, if you got a fellow SW fan handy).

Well, SFA is not what I was talking about. I mean the upcoming 'proper' SF titles, such as Armada. As much as I like Rareware, they did NOT do a good job on that evil Zelda clone ;(

Yeah, SSMB and Windmaker. My friend personally rushed out for the new F-Zero X.

Damn, there was this great arcade style, classic vertical scrolling game, but I forgot the name... I do remember it was Japanese though.

Best part about the PC is the mods and multiplayer.

Ex: Half-life with its numerous mods and UT2k3 that has a marble madness mod.

Before this turns into a full-on PC vs the Console war, I think I should point out that each has their uses. It's easier to get people around a TV for a fighting game marathon or for NFL Blitz/etc. Then again: UT for PS2 sucked so bad it hurts. PC is the only choice for FPS and Strategy (the mouse gives you the control needed).

There's even a great car racing mod for UT2003. I find that being able to change a game's genere through a mod is an incredibly cool concept, and something you can't even dream of with a console.

I think the name you are looking for is Ikaruga, it a great game, gets very addctive.
I'm loving F-Zero X right now, great game too.
Although I'm mostly a PC gamer, when it comes to consoles, I recommend the GC too, I like it's exclusives better than the PS2's exclusives, wich don't really appeal to me very much.

I forgot about Eternal Darkness, not only was that a cool game with a good story and I really liked how the game progressed. Also it was just the right difficulty, not so hard that you get fustrated, not so easy that you get bored with it. I beat it in 11 hours with no gamefaqs help.

It's actually easier than ever these days to build your own machine. Lot's of computer shops will provide "Bare-Bone" systems that beginers can take home and finish. Also with Plug N Play PC parts down to a fine art now it's really just like a Jigsaw puzzle. Heck me and my dad built the one i use and neither of us are too computer savvy. Yes, but most of them shouldn't be allowed to buy PCs, they're too stupid even to use Windows. And unfortunately, Windows is also very stupid, which means that there're an infinite number of things that can go wrong at any moment.

My life would be so much easier if everyone who bought a computer just for browsing the web and typing the odd Word document bought a fucking Mac.

And although PCs have theoretically better graphical performance than consoles, it rarely shows in the actual game. In fact, despite the fact that they're all now outdated hardware, I've only got one game on the PC that looks as pretty as the console offerings, Unreal 2, and in terms of actually being a game Metroid Prime hands it it's bloody and beaten ass.
