Any incarnation of Quake (especially Quake III) should be considered overrated due to it being so visually hideous that one can barely look at the screen. ;)

22. Starfleet Command Series (agree, should have been turn based)

19. Battlecruiser 3000AD (Yep, right on the money.)

16. Mortal Kombat (Only three MKs plus one variant were made,
vs 1 bazillion SF2 variants, so who won in the end really?)

10. Halo (Yep, overrated)

5. Quake II (WTF? Quake was so much better than Q1 it wasn't funny! A story (sort of) and actual honest to god single player gaming!

2. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
1. Black & White

On these two, I'm totally in agreement. MGS2 was such a letdown compared to MGS1, and B&W...well...

Hey wait a minute, they gave B&W a high rating.....GameFart is full
of shit anyway...

If there is one criticism of FFVII that cannot be disputed, it's the one involving music quality. Not only did FFVII not use CD audio or streaming music during streamed video, it used some of the worst MIDI instruments ever. That was some low quality shit, and I dare say that FFVI MIDI was of higher quality considering the age difference between the two games.

Sega CD games frequently took advantage of the godly CD audio capabilities of the system. Q-sound Sonic CD! *drools on boxers* This was waaaay before the PSX's time. CD audio has been utilized on the fucking Turbo Duo CD (PCEngine) system, long before the Sega CD (Megadrive CD) was conceived!

Square, TO THIS DAY, is using MIDI! Though the MIDI quality from FFVIII and on has been far better than VII's, the company, and the industry in general, should be beyond that.

Though CD audio appears occasionally, like in the Twisted Metal series, it isn't put to use nearly enough. Shame on everyone's big butt.

John Romero needs to burn for this...
Eidos sunk so much damn money into ION Storm that when Daikatana failed to meet any sort of revenue expectations their creditors refused to send more cash their way. $44 million had been sunk into ION Storm before Daikatana was even released.

As a result, Looking Glass - then owned by Eidos - was terminated since no additional funding for continued operation could be secured.
Stupid Eidos. $44M!!?! WTF? I've also noticed a distinct decline in game quality since Daikatana was released too. Here's to hoping DooM3, Quake 4, and the UT Series revitalize the game industry...

Considering I'm on an Unreal Tournament Tootâ„¢ as of late, I agree with you. I still wanna know why I get 40FPS in Quake on a good day yet I can easily get 100FPS in UT on a bad day. Q3=OpenGL. UT=Direct3d. Maybe I need to update my OpenGL implementation drivers or something...

I ponder whether you're talking of UT or the 2k3

My old 300 mhz AMD + Voodoo 3 ran UT better than my 800 mhz rig + GeForce2. Teh secret? Glide.

No, not 2K3. Just plain old UT.

P.S. UT is the funniest fucking FPS I've ever played. I've never laughed so hard while fragging in my life!!!

"Die, bitch!"

My brother-in-law was playing it, when his mom walked in to ask him a question, and the computer player said it right as she started to ask the question.

:D

Seriously, though. I love Q2 (especially the WOD and WOD:LOX mods). Q3A isn't too bad, either (although I still don't know why they didn't get a better color pallete than brown, tan, red, sienna, etc...). But UT (original) is definitely better than Q3:Team Arena. And I absolutely love Domination and Assault games.

It's funny, though. What I tend to do is get the sniper rifle, find a nice campsite, and send all my support bots out to take the flag. Then I just start sniping the enemy guys. I've racked up 50 headshots in one of the single-player CTF games easily with the sniper rifle...
