Rather than using whatever skills you use and study, you're stuck with 3rd edition-esque classes (but not as cool or varied as D&D's), limited skills, and 'feats'. Also it's stuck with hitpoints and (I'm assuming) armor with +2 and +3 bonus point stuff.
STOP STOP STOP THE PAIN!

Since call of Cthutlu is now using the same rules as well, I will be playing a Nightgaunt Jedi in the next undermountain campaign......

It's a wizards game now, with all that entailing it.
Basically, it's D&D with some minor adjustments...

and since star wars is space fantasy, those adjustments are *very* minor. mostly on scale.

I must say that my single biggest gripe with KOTOR was not with the game itself, but with the system they had to work with. When I first saw that blasters were useless next to swords (not lightsabers, not vibroblades, just swords), I almost broke down and cried. The game's awesome story and greatness soon made up for it, but it still bugged me.
