Don't try things like logic on this branch of the population. After all, ID cards are an inevitable step towards thought control chips in our heads.
I suppose it would depend on what is in the ID... If it has your criminal record. and private info like that... no...
I it has basic contact info, maybe your occupation, and shit that you could look in a phone book to find... Medical history in case of an accident... Why not?

As I do have such a thing: My ID card holds name, date and place of birth, nationality, adress, eye colour, and height, as well as a photo. It's also machine-readable.Alyrium Denryle wrote:Hehe... It isn't like this abuse of the Patriot Act is a surprise. The biggest surprise to me is that this is the first time of heard of it happening. I expected it to start long ago. I now feel very vindicated in a statement I made debating the Patriot Act with one of my conservative teachers when the Act was first instated. It went something like, "But what happens when they start invoking the laws in the Patriot Act against private citizens?"
Never mistake temptation for oppurtunity.

Fortunately, PATRIOT was passed as a temporary measure with all kinds of sunset clauses that at this point, I don't think the DoJ is going to get overturned despite how hard they're lobbying. In 2006, most of the act will come under Congressional review. Unless there's a major terrorist attack on American soil between then and now, I doubt they'll be renewed. It's not just Democrats who dislike PATRIOT anymore--a number of Republicans are alarmed by the laws they helped pass and are getting tired of John Ashcroft. Not to mention, very little of PATRIOT has come into the courts yet. And if a Democrat wins in 2004, the whole thing might get defenestrated.
