I made a telescoping lightsabre made from toilet paper tubes. :P

When I have a lot of junk left over and very little to do, I build myself a lightsabre. So far I've built two. Here's two pictures of my latest one:
Pic 1
Pic 2

The quality is pretty crappy (of the pictures, I mean), but unfortunately I don't have a better digi-cam. :(

Edit: tried to fix the links...

your links are bad.

Actually my very first lightsaber was from around 1988 or so when i went as Darth Vader for Halloween--it was just a long paper towel roll that i tied to my belt the way OB1 did!

It's geocities, you have to copy and paste the links.

I found a page with some instructions on how to build your own lightsabre inexpensively here. It's not a replica of any of the movie sabres, but it still looks pretty good.

When I get the chance, I'll probably build my own sabre using these instructions (although I think I'll go for the Obi-Wan-style dish emitter rather than the Anakin-style bevelled end that the lightsabre described on the page uses. Anyone have any ideas as to what I could use for the end?)

If you are interested in making a hardware saber try Googling for lightsaber and yellow box, he has multiple styles, and has step by step instructions with photos. I've seen a number of people wearing the sabers made from his instructions from that site, and they look fairly good.

Luke's saber was made from a Graflex flash gun. To find one hit eBay, and be prepared to pay quite a bit. Converting is easy, tighten the clamp that connects the flash to the camera with a bit of circuit board in it, glue some large gage wiper blades to the bottom, and pop rivet a D ring in a holder to the bottom. When buying watch out for a graflite flash, it is the same company, but very different looking.

Vader was made from either a King Sol, or an MMP depending on which way who you talk to. It has a similar procedure for conversion. Kits with all you need to convert are available off the net.

Here is the saber I built. It has a stainless steel body, with foam grips, and a holographic paper behind CD centers emitter. Not the greatest pic, but it gets the point across.

I have another one that holds a fiberglass rod for hitting people, or an acrylic rod, and mini flashlight for the glowing sword look.

Ok, I think I've fixed them now. I don't know how much bandwidth my school gives me. Hopefully it's more than GeoCities...

Anyway, I can tell ya all what I built this one from. The main body is made from a broken carbonfibre fishing-rod and inserted into that is a glue-stick with the thing that holds the glue turned up-side-down. Inserted into the glue-stick is a piece of copper pipe and the "emitter", on top of the copper is made from a slaughtered CD-motor, which actually looks quite cool, if I may so myself. The thing in the bottom is some thing which you put small lightbulbs in. It's hard to see in the pics but you can attach it to your belt/pants with one of those key-chain-thingies (what are they called anyways?) which I got from a laser-pointer.

Oh yeah, there's a hole where you can connect a certain kind of plug to "charge it up". There's nothing in there to actually charge up, but it's cool anyway 8) . And I got the "on-switch" from a modem that was struck by lightning and didn't work.

I remember something similar happening on my 14th(?) birthday. I was given one of Lukes green ones, the ones that lights up, telescopes, etc and me and my best mate started beating the crap out of each other with them walking up the road, till I broke mine by raping round his head.
Since I got my Ep II Anakin one, I've threatened him with my hockey stick every time he gets too close to it.

Anyone know if they have...umm....display piece sabers with perhaps neon tubing that you can plug in? That's be neat. Put it on a holder in your room or something. Or even a coat-of-arms style saber set, with crossed sabres mounted on a metal plaque-ish thing. (Would be big, and perhaps a bit gaudy, but anyone who doesn't like it, I can always whip out my old SCA mace and make it so they don't see it anymore. )

Go to the first page, and look for my second post.

Also Parks sabers has some real cool sabers. Besides the sabers they build, they also have parts to make your own, plus this bad ass mother fucker

Don't really like the Parks Sabers. They don't have the sense of ruggedness and durability we see of the sabres in the trilogy, plus the owner seems to be a certified, card-carrying nutcase.

Serious? They look like the Old Trilogy style sabres to a tee.

Maybe it's just on the pictures, but I get the antiseptic high-tech feel I associate with Trek, not Star Wars.
