In case anyone's wondering, I'm not taking this thread very seriously.
A little anecdote:
I was carving up a pork shoulder roast years ago, and a leg joint was still intact in it.
Recalling all that I've heard about pork tasting of people, I almost threw up. It was just TOO easy to imagine I was carving up a chunk of person.
So, when it comes down to the nitty-gritty, I'd probably vomit at the aroma of cooked neighbor, much less eat it.

I am not at all squeemish about that sort of thing. But generally, I wouldnt try it unless i didn know it was uman. Then, upon trying it, and being told, I would probably continue eating the meal, and o back for seconds.
Host: Dinner is srved
Me: Hm this is really good. What's in it?
Host: Carrots, peas, potaos, a human quadracep
Me: What was that last one?
Host: Um... a human...quadracep....
Me: hmm... Not bad*continues eating*

No way should cannibalism be allowed under any circumstances. It is simply wrong that someone has to die to satisfy a cannibals appetite for human meat.
So let's put the question in another way. Suppose the technology existed to grow human limbs, body parts etc. Should it be legal to sell artificialy grown human parts as food ? Would you eat such food if it was legal ?

T'would add a new angle on the phrase "Something i ate disagreed with me".
Joking aside i'd not try it. Apparently human flesh is very addictive and i try not to have a dependency on anyone or anything.

But isn't cannibalism exactly that which brings upon the curse of the Wendigo?

To make a point of something, I do recall hearing stories of "speacial" meat being put up in market places in... I want to say south-east Asia (Korea?) but I am unsure. I may just be crazy, though.
No, wiat, I am crazy. Nevermind...
The only proper way of obtaining specimens that would meet health standards would be to genetically grow human flesh, in which case farms of cloned human meat-sacks is extremly revolting.
As I recall, in
The State of the Art the semi-crazy guy onthe Arb asked the Ship to get samples of a few of the more insane dictators on Earth, and has meat vat-grown for his bribery feast. You know, a small taste of Earth.
So a resounding NO! Theres a reason that cannibalism is only used in survival situations...
I beleive a group of people that crashed in the Andes used their dead crewmates as a food source to survive the winter.
As to my thought on the matter... eh... only if it tasted good.

actually, there was a website awhile back that specialized in making human meat for consumption. the company itself was located in california though, and i'm not sure how legal that company was either. the site doesn't seem to be up anymore or i'd post a link.

Hell, I've never eaten vennison or lamb because I think they're too cute to eat so I think I'd say "no" to people-meat as well.
Edit: grammar

I would have no problem with this.

Why only grow only parts when you can grow the whole package?
Plus grown humans (sex dolls) can be used to capture the market for dateless losers.

WTF? Who in their right mind would eat human flesh? That is just sick and wrong!

Historically, human flesh has been sold as a delicacy in very rare occasions.
When Egyptian tombs were being excavated--must have been during the 1800's cant quite remember--Mummy-meat was sold as a delicacy. Often it was boiled in stew in very small portions, and was thought to have medical powers--mummy meat was sold a magical cure-all for everything from colds to headaches. Eating phalisus has long been thought to be a powerful aphrodisiac as well...
Some asian countries have also dabbled in human flesh, though i cant remember details--i believe in most cases like this it was reserved for royalty, due to its rarity.
Cannibalism has always been reserved for survival situations--the infamous Donner Party, and the Andes plane crash popularized in the film Alive! for example. A society that eats each other is doomed to perish. A marketplace for human flesh will eventually give rise to sinister doings--like those skeleton farms in India.

There are still cannibals in Asia. The Andaman islands is home to a race of fierce cannibals who ate everyone unlucky to meet them. The practice subsided after India colonized the island in the 1950s and 1960s. They still eat people sometimes. For example a railway worker was devoured a few years back while working deep within the jungle.

Have any of you ever seen the musical
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street? I played Judge Turpin. (Despite the character's thorough evilness, he's about the only character in the play that did not eat human flesh at some point, including all the extras.

)
And no, I would not participate in cannibalism. Get away from me. I don't want to be killed for meat for real this time.
