Generally once they died this was quickly revoked. And they generally died a bit quicker when the Praetorian Guard decided to stage a coup (as they did every 2 years or so back in the 3rd century)...

Of course the only time the Preatorians got a pay raise was when the emporer died and a new one was put in charge.
