That would be explained by the presence of Death Squadron, and the comm ship being the command ship of the Sector Group.
I'm saying that since your ship total at Endor equals a minimum Sector Group value...any other spare fleet commands or ships borrowed from the local Sector Group combined with Death Squadron is deployed as a Sector Group, even if it isn't -the- Endor Sector Group.

The remaining ships beyond Death Squadron may be from the Endor Sector Group, but their command is not the "Endor Sector Group"--their command is the Sector Group Deployment under the flagship of Executor. Piett commands the entire deployment at Endor.

I'm saying that yeah, you're right that the Sector Group ships are probably there, but they were transfered from the "Endor's Sector Group" command under the local Moff to the command under Firmus Piett.

The ship deployment under Firmus Piett counts 22 ISDs + 2 large vessels. Because this is roughly analogous to the 24 ISD count for a minimum strength Sector Group, the deployment of Firmus Piett's command is probably the Navy standard for a the full deployment of a Sector Group, whereas a deployment of 1/4 the ISDs of a Sector Group (six ISDs) is called a Superiority Fleet, etc.

I'm saying the command gathered under Piett is equivalent to the combined command of an entire Sector Group due to its composition. There are no seperate commands at Endor: the fleet's flagship is Executor, her flag officer HADM Firmus Piett.

Does that clarify my meaning?

Even the frigates and other such relatively lowly ships, or do you just mean the destroyer fleet and upwards.

BTW, there was really no reason to make this a poll, Dax.
To be honest, I don't know. That sentence was from (IIRC) the Galactic Empire scrapbook, which I don't have a copy of.

Actually, the showcase ship of the Empire would probably be Executor. It was supposed to have some of the best and brightest of the Empire serving aboard her and she was one of the mightiest vessels ever built.

Oy, here we go with the flagship definition again...
There's only one correct definition of flagship you know.

The vessel which carries the commanding officer of a fleet or squadron and flies his distinctive flag or pennant.-Dictionary.com

This explains it then

True, but then again, the "flagship", or rather showcase piece of a navy need not be the largest. For example, the Constellation and Nimitz class carriers are similarly considered "flagships" of the USN. Its more like, if you think of a navy, what is the ship design that comes to your mind? In our days, its a super-carrier. In the SWU, its probably the ISD, although the Executor is also a contendor.

True, but a prestige ships tends not to be the real world equivalent of the Sprucans. Yes, a carrier would probably be the prestige ship of today. And the Executor (and it's sisters) seem to be closest to that.\

(PS: Constellation is a Kitty Hawk as is JFK)

I think it was everything from VSDs on up. Not sure though, its been a while since I've read it.
