"I think we'd be best off searching the ports first of all, see what ships are due to leave in the next few days and check them out." Grozny rides over to the port, and looks for the harbour master (I presume theres one)

I wander around the docks a bit more, and look around the town a bit more. (any other guilds present? Markets?)

A huge market that sells just about every product you can imangine.

There is, and after a little asking around, you are given a list (I'll PM it too you as soon as I have a break from replying to everyone's posts).

I buy myself a little fresh food for the walk, talk with the market people about the current situation. (and any guild apart fromt he mages?)

Elf: "............sure. First, can you state you name, race, and occupation for the record?"

Tsaroth Maelar, Male Grey Elf, Adventuring wizard and Heretic.

The elf raises an eyebrow at heritic but says nothing.
Spark: "Spark, cat, generel-furball"

Elf: "............i'm putting that down as "unemployed", please step this way"

You are put through 2 hours of challenge tests, where you cast spells, cite arcane lore, and prattle off the names of famous wizards. All three of you pass.

Spark: er.....i'm broke. Can one of you pay my entrance fee?

"Yeah, I can probably do that"

Elf: Yes? The fee?

"Don't worry I'll cover it"

So you pay the elf?

Yes we pay the elf.

Elf: Very well, welcome to the guild.

*he hands all three of you a little gold pendant. Sparks goes around his neck like a collar*

"Those identify you as guild members. Here's a map of the building. Good day."

Right, I look at the map, noting anything interesting, and then go to the library.
