No, I think that's quite different enough that it is clear that the novel is superceded in that instance.
IIRC He is very clearly hit in the chest, drops his weapon and sort of throws his arms outward as he falls, but I don't recall a significant scorch mark, (If you can see it through the smoke) then he just sort of...falls...Again, it just didn't look like it hit him too hard.
(We care about this storm troope because he was just walking around, with his buddies, probably talking about what they were going to do after work that day, maybe "Hit the club, grab a few-"
