Luke did go into shock later and required medical attention.

Maybe he just lost control ... after all he was exhausted. I don't think he could have keep focus so long. And it was also the shock of knowing that Vader was his daddy. And medical control was required after losing a limb.

Sorry for not reading the entire thread, my 'net time is about to run out on this public computer (dang pc troubles) but Force Jump is canon:
We see Luke hop out of the Carbon Freezer in ESB, we see Obi-Wan Force Jump in the battle with Darth Maul at the end of TPM (more than once.. he does it to get with Qui Gon and Maul after being knocked down to the lower platform and later to get himself out of the pit at the very end).
Likewise we see Anakin doing some Force Jumps in the Droid Factory in AOTC and also when he saves Obi-Wan from Dooku's blade in the saber fight.
Force aided jumps are one of the most well documented powers in the movies in fact.
Vader retrieves his saber offscreen in ROTJ, in the novel it is mentioned but I forget if he uses the Force to retrieve it or not.
The Force powers in the movies are not frame by frame identical to their video game counterparts but they certainly exist.
The power used in TPM is definately speed. Not sure if the "flickering" is an intentional invisiblity or just a side effect of the force to move that fast, but oh well it's there, check the DVD.
Pull, Push, Jump, Lightning, Speed, "Absorb" (force lightning in AOTC), "Absorb II" (Vader catching Han's blaster shots in ESB), Saber Throw, Heal (or "Recover" used by Obi-Wan on Luke's unconscious body in ANH), Meditation (Qui Gon in TPM), Throw (Vader tossing stuff around in ESB), Mind Trick, Seeing (used by Luke to see the target on the Death Star, Jedi to sense each other's presence, Luke to see the remote with his helmet's blast shield down, etc), Grip, "Battle Meditation" (according to the novels I believe for Palpatine in ROTJ and possibly the Jedi in AOTC during the last battles), etc.

I've got the novelization right here. Here's the quote that pertains to the sabre-throwing incident:
James Kahn wrote:Vader threw his scintilating blade - it sliced through the supports holding up the gantry on which Luke was perched, then swept around and flew back into Vader's hand.

Few things..
from the novelization of ANH, there was no indication that ben's mimicing of a Krayt Dragon's roar was anything other than good lungs and a lot of practice.
Luke didn't need healing, as he fainted during the tusken attack, and he was never actually clubbed. (though movie evidence may add to this)

So what did Ben do to him then? Use the Force to "wake him up" from his unconsciousness?
Because he put his hand to Luke's forehead and held it there for awhile as if he was doing something. Didn't look like he was taking his pulse or doing CPR...
Other force powers: "Force Hide" used by Ben and Yoda to stay hidden possibly and by Palpatine to "hide" from the Jedi Council in the prequels.
Force Throw used (again) by Maul in TPM to toss that battle droid fragment to throw the switch near the end of the film.
Push used numerous times on Droids and Jedi in the prequels.
Force "Deflection" (moving a saber fast enough to deflect blaster bolts back at the shooter) used ANH, ROTJ and the prequels.
Then we have generic telekinesis of objects (used by Anakin in AOTC numerous times) and possibly Yoda floating himself around in that little chair in AOTC (unless it had a repulsor in it of course).
Good point about other people using Force Jump in the prequels (like Mace Windu).
Obviously the amount of Force use goes up exponentially in the prequels since we're living in the era of Jedi. ; )

And CGI.

The pictures of Dooku using force lightning are not so good. I have seen the movie, and the pictures are really poor quality when the lighning becomes a white and blue mass......
Interesting you should mention that but I disagree...

And CGI.
That has little to do with it. We've had the technology to do the "force" stuff for decades. After all, before CGI became common in movies we had the blue/green screen effects, animated effects (like the lightning and such) and lots of sfx tricks like wires (Force Pull).
Now as far as digital sets and realistic looking aliens (that aren't limited to human shaped things or puppets with limited movements) and massive space battles CGI is a major boon. But other than making the lightning look prettier, CGI doesn't really change the amount of "force" you can show, since the force doesn't manifest itself with visual effects like it does in SW video games.

Nitpick: Force Pull was in many cases facilitated by a part of the action being done backwards (ie. Mark Hamill straightening out and throwing the hilt into the snow) and played in reverse in editting.
Using wires is never perfect, and takes a while. Since on the computer it takes seconds, Lucas is inclined to use the Force in far more scenes. Just compare the number of Force jumps and levitation in the OT to that in the prequels.

Good point about the reverse footage. My point is they had many "tricks" at their disposal to make the effects believable without the need for CGI.
So just like the "clone Stormtroopers" the technology existed at the time of the films (1977-1983) to do those sorts of things.
Did Lucas deliberately scale back Jedi powers because he lacked the money? Somehow I doubt it (considering the cheap look of many of the effects he DID do, ie: he didn't hold back then, why with the others).
Certainly I can see him not making hundreds or thousands of ship models for massive battle sequences which we are starting to see in the prequels, but simple things like that no.
