They could be one of those long lost Earth colony ships they keep mentioning on Trek.

Unlikely.

It doesn't specifically have to be a Trek one. Just a colony ship that got lost.

That would take too long. It would have to travel backwards in time, and frankly, its lacking in inspiration.

IP and my theory is still superior. :P

I have read, that the original homewold of humanity was totally devastated in a great war, and that it was slowly forgotten after that, when humans moved on.

There was an "ask the jedi council" question about this on the official site just a while ago. The answer was that its an ancient race whose origins have been forgotten.

I remember Curtis Saxton said something to the degree that its a long time ago from the perspective of the observer; it could be in the far future from our perspective.

Yes, but that's really cheating...

Not to mention uninspired.

Q:Stupid question but what are humans called in the Star Wars universe?

A:Humans are simply identified as humans -- notice when C-3PO remarks that Luke Skywalker is quite clever for a human being, or when Han Solo ironically calls Jabba the Hutt a wonderful human. The Podracer announcers also identify Anakin Skywalker as a human. Your confusion may stem from there not being a homeworld identified in the species name, but that is not uncommon. The species name "Wookiee," for instance makes no reference to Kashyyyk.

The origins of humanity in this galaxy have been lost to time. There are several worlds that lay claim to the prehistoric birthplace of the human species -- and in ancient times, wars were fought over such claims -- but the truth remains a mystery. As such, many humans tend to refer to themselves with names that identify particular cultures or homeworld: for example, Corellians and Alderaanians.

Is there any info on what Coruscant was like before it's surface was completely covered by buildings? Was it 'earth-like'?

One possibility, though cross-universe, is that the humans in the Star Wars galaxy were relocated to that galaxy by the Asgard. If the easter egg rumor about Episode III turns out to be true, it could spark some speculation.

Volcanic, I think. Although by that time, it was quite dormant.

Because ILM is the only VFX house working on Episode III, and they had nothing to do with anything concerning StarGate or SG-1.

Therefore, it is a lie.

Easter eggs are usually just thing for fans of such.

I mean are we to actually say that because they show something that distinctly looks like the Galaxy Class starship in TPM that the Federation exists in the SW universe?

Could the human home world have been destroyed after some cosmic disaster? Then forgotten by the surviving colonies.

Are you sure? Work is very often farmed out to other places, even if there is only one EFX house officially working on a film (another example would be WETA and LOTR -- they farmed out some work).

As far as I know.

Even if there was a dinky little Asgard ship in the opening battle, it still wouldn't mean shit.
