What i want to know is, will there be a special prosecutor to investigate nipplegate? If so, I'll volunteer. Dammit, i'll inspect every set of tits from sea to shining sea if i have to.

All i can say is that it's a good thing the assclowns who are outraged over this don't have access to British TV. I remember being 16 and watching topless darts on ice, and i won't even mention the stock and shares program Tiffany's Big City Tips (an idea ripped off by the Naked News) oh the glory that was L!ve TV.

Fuck, I remember watching Monty Python's Flying Circus on the local PBS station a few years back, and all of a sudden seeing a nude woman behind a counter. On public broadcasting!

Heh, I saw that, too, a few years ago. :)

This frenzy about it is UTTERLY ridiculous. There's no way they should even CONSIDER revoking CBS's license for that, even if it WAS planned to go off as it did. I'm sure the FCC will look into the matter, wasting my tax dollars, and then go on their merry way having drawn no conclusions.

I think they will fine CBS, in order to show that this administration is holding the line on "family values". The FCC will also agitate for more powers, which will result in more funding.

Well, the FCC looks like it will be getting more power. There is a bill in Congress right now that if it gets passed it make the maximum fine the FCC is allowed to levy against broadcasters for "indecent programming" by a factor of ten, going from 27,500 dollars to 275,000 dollars. This bill has the support of the Bush Administration as of last Wednesday.

Incidentally, this isn't the first time the FCC has fined someone for indecent broadcasting within the last couple of weeks. Clear Channel got slapped with something like $750,000 of fines recently for something Bubba the Love Sponge aired.

And of course it was planned. I don't think you can reasonably deny that it wasn't planned. But who gives a rat's ass?

And MTV still sucks.

I'm willing to grant some leaning room that while the action was planned, the actual bare breast wasn't. IIRC, they said it was supposed to be a red lace number exposed, which you can see her wearing under her other cup.

I believe that, myself. I doubt MTV would show 40-year old breasts intentionally.

A federal inquiry ? Don't they have better things to do?

Like running the country? Of course not. Three seconds of partially exposed breast override all other federal priorities.

Regardless of whether or not the network saw and approved of it, it was probably a cheap publicity stunt to add another 15 minutes of fame to their careers.

And the FCC is even whinier than usual. Big fucking deal, people saw a partially exposed nipple on a live performance. If it was pre-recorded, it would have either been censored or cut off. If the network wanted people to see nudity, they would have focused in on it for several seconds instead of cutting off ASAP. Besides, it's not as if anyone is going to see it again, or at least they wouldn't if the networks were airing a story about it every other hour. I say the FCC should act like it never happened, and spend tax dollars on something more productive than federal investigations into something like that, such as cutting potholes into roads and filling them again.

On the plus side, we probaly won't have to listen to either of them at next year's halftime show.

Even as harsh as Mike's being about this, I'm afraid I have to agree with him. My pals and I saw the show, and we weren't even sure anything had really been exposed. She could've been wearing a flesh colored bra or something from all we could tell.

While I don't agree with the investigation, how could one FCC investigation conflict with all other federal priorities?

This whole thing has gone wacko. Americans tolerate or even up to loving violence (from entertainment to reality) but show some skin and "OH NO! WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!" While from what I understand (I may be wrong on this) that it is the opposite in Europe.

So I guess the more left leaning a nation is the more nudity\sex is allowed but violence is frowned upon while the opposite is true for right leaning nations?

I just want to know what she's got in her nipples. Are those piercings? They look awfully painful...
