China relies HEAVILY on merchant shipping for their oil supplies and much of their economy. The other bit is in the air. Two USN CVBGs can clobber the PLA(N) and then blockade the coast of China.

Exactly WHY Fidel hasn't kicked us out of Gitmo (Even though he was in all rights to do so as per international law) since the last year of Bush Senior's Presidency. The fact that we are now using it for a massive camp for housing the prisoners of our war on Terrorism. I would've thought the PLA would've seen the Canal as something of a cash cow to fund Chinese military spending . . . rather than something to destroy or hold up . . . well, except for the occasional thing to keep the US on it's toes.

The loss of the Cannal hurts us way more than it hurts China

Did some quick reasurch and found that shipping company's would have to pay roughy six times as much(USA Today numbers and a quick web-search for Sea Companys) if the Panama Cannal was closed and they had to go around South America instead

Considering the amount of Products moved through there per day by the US and Co and the relative state our Economy is it, It would be roughly equivlant to Gas Prices shooting up to 3.20$ a Gallon to give you a Comparsion(3.20$ US)

Conspiracay nuts can come up with anything. There are people who say the WTC attacks were an excuse to attack Afghanistan, the hijackers are still alive, and if there were hijackers they were Jews, or at least that's what they think in the Middle East.

As ofr the aliens, it owuld be even funnier if they said they couldn't get a clear picture because the UFO had jamming systems that blurred the shots.
