Hell yeah. Massed warthog wars come a close second, unless some bastard realises that the things are easy meat for anyone with a plasma grenade and a little luck.DPDarkPrimus wrote:I'll tell you what's intense.
8v8 capture the flag in Hang Em High. All sniper rifles. One score wins.
It took twenty minutes.
Real FPS gamers use things called "mice" and "keyboards," not console controllers. Get some console kiddies and PC players of similar skill on the same server and see who gets their asses whipped.DPDarkPrimus wrote:...Because anyone who loves HALO multiplayer owns an X-Box, and has LAN parties with friends.

...ESPECIALLY not the X-Box controllers, which are the most unwieldy things ever made. The only controller suitable for FPS play, if you absolutely MUST do so, is the N64 controller.Durandal wrote:Real FPS gamers use things called "mice" and "keyboards," not console controllers...
How come you can put together two TVs on X-Box while you need 8 machines with the PC version?DPDarkPrimus wrote:The fact I was making is that most of the people who play HALO multiplayer religiously play it on X-Box, because throwing together a couple televisions and X-Boxes in a college dormitory is much easier than dragging over eight computers into the same room. I like the X-Box controllers, I prefer them over the PS2 controllers and especially over the flimsy GC controllers. As for the N64 controller, it has only one analogue stick which makes the view very limited.Lagmonster wrote:...ESPECIALLY not the X-Box controllers, which are the most unwieldy things ever made. Because each X-Box has 4 controllers, so the 8 players will have to share 2 TV screens. At college we rig up 2 projectors and big white sheets so we can have massive screens. It's really fun when your team mates and opponents are in the same room. How come you can put together two TVs on X-Box while you need 8 machines with the PC version?
Hey genius, in a college dorm, you're generally on the same subnet, so you can leave your machines where they are and just set up a server. As for being a social event, I'd rather not cram 8 people into a typical dorm room in addition to two TV's.DPDarkPrimus wrote:The fact I was making is that most of the people who play HALO multiplayer religiously play it on X-Box, because throwing together a couple televisions and X-Boxes in a college dormitory is much easier than dragging over eight computers into the same room. Actually, I've found that, if I had to use a console controller for an FPS, it'd be the X-Box's. The N64 controller was the most god-awful piece of shit I've ever used, and the PS2's controller's joysticks just aren't as comfortable as the X-Box's. However, having to slowly pan my vision around to do a 180-degree turn was an inevitability on every controller.Lagmonster wrote:...ESPECIALLY not the X-Box controllers, which are the most unwieldy things ever made. I have long, thin hands, and I find that after a few minutes of trying to hit the X-Box's badly placed buttons I get cramps in the knuckle joints. Whereas I liked the N64's reach-around-and-grab theory with the middle wing of its controller. The trigger was comfortably placed and the grip gave me good control.Durandal wrote:Actually, I've found that, if I had to use a console controller for an FPS, it'd be the X-Box's. Ditto. I have big hands, and I only have ever liked the X-Box and N64 controllers. I once broke a GC in half, just snapped it, by pulling too hard.Hobot wrote:I like the X-Box controllers, I prefer them over the PS2 controllers and especially over the flimsy GC controllers.
We would have had the game three fucking years ago if this were true and that would make the graphics excusable.Icehawk wrote:I thought the N64 controller was ok, certainly better than PSX's, but I think Xbox controller is the superior of them all right now. Although Keyboard and mouse is the best setup for FPS, I have no problems playing Halo on Xbox with a controller.
For Halo, if Bungie had actually kept and used the original PC build for the PC version, the graphics engine would have been quite inferior to what the Xbox version would have. PC users may have gotten smoother movement and less lag online, but you would have to put up with way older graphics since the original PC build was built to run with the lower end PC specs of 2001. I know for some this may not matter but for others it would.
Thats like going target shooting with a BB gun. Whats the fucking point when its so much funner with the real thing?DPDarkPrimus wrote:*throws hands up in the air*
I can see that some people just won't understand that some people like to play HALO multiplayer... ON THE X-BOX.

Ditto. Who the fuck cares about what PC users think of their superior mouse/keyboard combo? Halo on the Xbox works and is tons of fun; I don't need any other excuse to play it.DPDarkPrimus wrote:*throws hands up in the air*

Jesus Fucking Christ, will you shut up about that? I'm sorry that you are bummed that Bungie got bought by Microsoft but GET OVER IT. Halo is an Xbox game which is obvious to anyone who has played both the PC and Xbox versions.Durandal wrote:No, the real thing is the PC version, since it was originally developed for Mac and PC.

Yes but that doesnt change the fact that the Xbox version would have been the superior of the two (aside from online play).Alyeska wrote: We would have had the game three fucking years ago if this were true and that would make the graphics excusable.
Halo is a fucking Mac game that also is nice on PC. It was fucking stolen to the X-Box and then thanks to Bungie not giving a shit ported (fucking ported, not rebuilt) back to PC with some of the fucking options missing. The Kernel wrote:Jesus Fucking Christ, will you shut up about that? Boo-Fucking-Hoo you little crybaby. You don't like the way Bungie conducts business? Too bad. Lots of us have seen our favorite game developers gutted, shutdown and mangled all so publishers can support more profitable licensed titles.Alyeska wrote: Halo is a fucking Mac game that also is nice on PC. Get over it? Why the fuck should I get over getting the game three years late with options REMOVED. Three years ago the game would have had slightly worse graphics but would have had MORE options built into it.
Oh, didn't you realize they removed options when they put it on the X-Box? The Warthog was much different and the Convenant even had a counterpart.
