The SE's are a very unusual case of a creator changing his mind, altering his own creation, and then lying and telling everyone that this is what he intended in the first place.
Some of those changes are legitimate corrections (the original ANH storyboards look a helluva lot more like the SE's than what we saw in 1977), but we all know perfectly well that GL intended Han Solo to shoot first in 1977.
Can GL say that Greedo shot first? I guess so. But for 20 years, he said that Solo shot first. And MoO's right; it looks OBVIOUSLY doctored. If the creator changes his mind and releases an improved version of his story, does the original cease to exist? Can fans not continue to talk about what is and isn't canon for the original version?

That's opening up a can of worms. If my brain were fully functional right now, I'd try and sort it out, but I'm too tired for a canon/noncanon discussion.

Sure, some of the things they put in, changed, or fixed were good, and showed the power of modern technology, but some of it was unessecary. As said before, it's already been changed.

I say no. Greedo did NOT fire first. No no no no no!
So in other words, the creator does NOT have the final say as to what really happened?

Lucas owns SW in totality, anything he says, or revises is FACT and must be accepted as such.
Clearly Evil_Jerk does was not speaking for everyone when he said that, and merely for himself, but the chances that Greedo fired first are exceptionally small. How could he have missed? Why would he fire, then? These questions need to be answered, or we can be led to the conclusion that the SE films were tampered with, while the majority of them are highly accurate.
C'mon MoO, if the SE showed a DBZ or true gigaton level weapionary in action everyone here would be dancing for joy and pointed to it as gospel BUT put in the Greedo thing and suddenly "Oh That's not what REALLY happened." Uh...YEAH that's precisely what happened. Its what GL said what happened and because you don't like does not make it so. Sorry I HATE the Greedo thing too but in the end, as much as I hate the SE crap, in my mind they SHOULD NOT be tampered with, but its GL's baby.
If I went back into Stracrossed and changed a small subplot, I would say, no MoO, whether you like it or not this is what really happened.

If Lucas don't fuck the Stormies I won't strap bombs too my chest and kill him. The Greedo thing never passed my mind, it looks dumb but I usually don't watch AHN too much

The problem I have with the SE is that it appears to be altering what Lucas originally intended for that particular scene. He has said in several interviews that he had patterned the cantina encounter on several western movies. Since I have never once seen a western movie that involved someone shooting first from three feet away and missing that badly, I must conclude that he has altered his original scheme for the movies. Having said that, it appears as if the shield effect of Alderaan is not nearly as evident as it was in the original trilogy. There is also no reason to believe that the other enhanced FX are variants on his original idea for the trilogy. Also, you are correct in that GL has said that the SE is canonical, and comes first and foremost. It is a personal opinion that tells me that Greedo could not possibly have fired first (because I can never forgive him for missing), but during the debates and such I will use the SE as the final version of the film, just as I use DS9's later seasons, and sometimes even VOY and ENT.

Greedo fired first, unfortunately. It is canon. We have no say. Maybe he'll change it, but I doubt it very much.
But in my heart everytime I see that scene I scream WHAT THE FUCK!?
I don't watch ANH that much either. Mostly ESB and ROTJ.

Well, the SE did get rid of the 'Yub Yub' ending. Good enough for me
