It's either Auto or Onboard.

And it was on Auto the whole time?Dorsk 81 wrote:It's either Auto or Onboard.
You mean the Onboard Video Buffer? If so then no, it's either 1 MB or 8MB.Rye wrote:Can you change the onboard memory setting to auto too?
Well, I haven't looked in here before, but I assume so because I haven't changed it.Dahak wrote:And it was on Auto the whole time?
That sounds like the Xtreme Graphics chip, yupp.Dorsk 81 wrote:After a little experiment I turned "Primary Video Controller" to onboard and tired it which just makes the comp ignore the graphics card and you have to plug the monitor back into the old port and it still doesn't run windows in anything but safe mode.
Suggestion?
Oh and I'm pretty sure option 5 in Boot Menu is BIOS cos in the top right corner it says "BIOS Version: A05".
I think, thanks to Falcons help, I've found a way to disable the Intell graphics stuff. In Device Manager there's a Display adapters icon and when I click on it it folds down to "intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller" and "NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200".
When I right click on "intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller" I can click on "Update Driver", "Disable", "Uninstall", "Scan for hardware changes" or "Properties". I clicked on properties and in the "Resources" tab it says "Resource settings: This device isn't using any resources because it has a problem."
When I go into the properties of "NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200" it shows the resources it's using, "Memory Range | FD000000 - FDFFFFFF", "Memory Range | F00000000 - F7FFFFFFF" and "IRQ | 11". Below that there's a box that says "Conflicting device list:" and in the box it says "No conflicts".
Basically I'm asking if the "intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller" is what I've been looking for and need to disable.
Yes, and then boot again and see wether the computer will now recognize your new card...Dorsk 81 wrote:So I should disable it and then remove the drivers?
