Hellsing true vampires can, atleast of Alucards level:
-Walk in the sun
-Phenomenal strenght
-Improved sight, smell and hearing amongst other things
-Teleportation
-Telekinetics
-Telepathics
-Morphing abilities
-Phasing abilities
-Doesn't help if you chop of his head(even with blessed blades), stake him, grind him to dust and pour garlic on the remains, a vampire of alucards power does not die, he was powerfull enough to defeat the god Set.
There's other minor and interesting spiritual and mystical abilities as well.
All he needs is blood, which he gets from bloodpacks, though sometimes he has the privilige of draining a person.

All that and he's a nice enough guy to ask permission before hand.
I would prefer to be a vampire, if only for the chance to find hot goth chicks.

"Highlander" immortality. Why?
- Can freely go out in daylight.
- Don't have to drink blood.
- No worries about food allergies (garlic).
- No serious religious issues (depending on your vampirism, of course).
- No significant "give away" traits (fangs, pale skin, hairy palms, bad breath, etc.).
- Only one significant vulnerability (beheading), and I can find a way to make a steel gorget into a fashion accessory for all occasions.
Sure, there are some downsides, but immortals of any type have to deal with most of them (cycling through different identities, for example). The only one specific to the "Highlander" immortals is that a portion of the Immortal population seems to like whacking other Immortals, so you have to take defensive measures. Still, vampires tend to have similar problems (rival vampires, vampire hunters, etc.).

You really should specify which sort of vampire you are thinking of because most of those cons are non-existant in most of them.
Though I thought the fangs where pretty
Anyway my teeth are so long it almost looks like I've got fangs now.

But the beauty of choosing the "Highlander" immortal is that I don't have to wonder; they have no real weaknesses (compared to a human being), no "tells", and there is only one limitation on their immortality. I don't have to deal with the question of "What kind of vampire do you mean?" because there's only one type of "Highlander" immortal.

I don't get your logic, what wonder? You choose what you want, there is hardly any unknowns when you know what you choose.
The OP hardly stipulates any vampire type in particular so that pretty much leaves one free to choose what one wishes, and that is indeed a worthy question, your choice is reminiscient of choosing a Honda Accord because you don't want to look at the other sports cars available.

What if you *don't* get to choose your "flavor" of vampire? As you say, the OP doesn't specify whether you must take a generic variety of modern vampire or you can shop around for the best type of vampirism on the market. With an Immortal there are no doubts.
Besides, as an Immortal, I'm a living being who won't die of any normal cause. As a vampire, you're a walking corpse. I know which I'd rather be.

Ask, then make the choice.

Depends on the vampire again, hellsing vampires are undead in a sense, but not walking corpses, in other senses they are far more magical and mystical beings, even non-corporeal.

I prefer Highlander-style immortality. I prefer to interpret "vampire" as just the traditional kind, rather than the more godlike versions. Given the choice, I'd rather have just one way to be killed, than still being subject to most forms of death, plus a few new ones. Also, I can live without the powers of a vampire in favor of being able to dwell in sunlight, visit a church or swim in a river if I want. Just convince other Immortals that the Prize is crap and to work together against Immortals looking to take heads, and remember to disappear once every few decades, and things should be fine.

Highlander.
Reason: I can't be killed except by having my head removed, right?
Fine
Tme to go to switzerland and get some reinforced rods imbedded into my neck to prevent beheading.
Either that, or a permit to carry a automatic handgun.
Just cause 'the rules' state that it's a sword fight, don't mean I'm gonna follow them. If I want to take someone's head, I'll do it sword 2 sword. You come after me, I'll blast ya and then take your head

Given a choice, I'd go with a vampire from the Anita Blake universe, probably the bloodline of Belle Morte, which means, not only is sex an option, it makes you more powerful!

I am immortal, I have inside me blood of kings! I have no rival, no man can be my equal!
Yeah, Highlander.

Highlander- I could walk among the humans without problems, and eventually I'd run into Sean Connery.

While being a vampire automatically increases my chances of nailing Buffy, I do have to walk to class during the day time. I couldn't come up with excuses fast enough for my professors.

You'd still go to school if you were a vampire? Now
that's scholastic dedication.
Me, I'd rather be a Highlander. First of all, and this is very important, drinking people's blood is totally lame. Second of all, getting your head cut off in a swordfight is way cooler than getting stabbed in the heart by a piece of lumber.

Lame. Count me out on any immortality that turns you into a crackhead.
