Seconded, and also "favorite composer in general."
I'd actually go as far to say that I personally consider her within the Top 25 Composers of All Time.

Howard Shore did LotR, right? *checks CDs* Yep.

Damn. John Williams is great, but I remember the start of "Hummel Gets the Rockets" from The Rock and the pure fun that is the theme from Broken Arrow (and Hale's theme is damned heroic sounding too). And, while I didn't like the movie itself, the music from Pearl Harbor was awesome as well. And I loved "Klendathu Drop" from Starship Troopers brought to us by Basil Poledouris...

It's too damn hard to pick!

EDIT: I had to, though, so I went with Hans Zimmer. It was a very tough choice for me though...I just love my movie soundtracks!

Oh that list: Hans Zimmer

My personal list:

1. James Newton Howard (Check out the Dinosaur soundtrack, "The End of Our Island" and "Raptors (Stand Together)")
2. Hans Zimmer ("Run Free" and "King of Pride Rock" being my fav tracks)
3. Alan Silvestri ("We're in Trouble" from the Mummy Returns soundtrack comes to mind)
4. Randy Edlman (Dragonheart, MacGyver)
5. David Arnold (Stargate, in particular "Battle at the Pyramid")
6. John Williams (The Patriot, and Indiana Johnes are quite frankly IMO are his best works ever.)
