Chunks of planetoid shouldn't be a problem to quantum crystalline armor, after all, the Sun crusher rammed through the bridge tower of a star destroyer. The only real issue with armoring things with it should be cost.Techno_Union wrote:I am quite sure that he is forgetting that the Empire has quantum crystalline armor (sp) that can withstand a supernova. Would it be possible to equip docks (Fondor, Kuat, Rendilli, ect) with this armor so it can withstand the supernova? The only problem could be the chunks of planetoids flying towards these stations but I am sure that can be taken care of. But this guy does ignore the pitifully slow warp drive and how it would take years to get to a mid or Core world.
All I have to say towards the 5 gigton super bomb...ROTFLMAO!!! 5 gigiton, thats a good one...oh he's serious

I never knew that the Sun Crusher had rammed an ISD bridge. The cost would be enormous but the Empire could probably afford to armor only the most important stations and/or ships. Another things, do you guys realy think that the Executor really almost bankrupted the Empire? It seems a little silly that a galaxy-wide civilization could not afford to build a billion or more ship; or is it just me who thinks this?consequences wrote: Chunks of planetoid shouldn't be a problem to quantum crystalline armor, after all, the Sun crusher rammed through the bridge tower of a star destroyer. Now that I thing about it, I seem to recall from somewhere in NJO that the alien girl who innovated that armour recreated some form of it to help rebuild that wind cathedral?Techno_Union wrote:I never knew that the Sun Crusher had rammed an ISD bridge. Of course you're not the only one who finds it silly. Hell, Han canonically agreed with you by his dismissal of the Executor's presence at Endor.Another things, do you guys realy think that the Executor really almost bankrupted the Empire? I never thought that even when I considered WEG to be the end-all Be-all of SW source material. If that ship nearly bankrupted the Empire, where'd they get the money to build 4 more exactly like it, with one going unnoticed as a budget discrepancy? How'd they build the Eclipse, and then the second Eclipse while planning to build 4 Sovereigns? How'd they build the Death Stars when they supposedly couldn't build a single ship with far less than a thousandth of its volume and firepower(even less given the length Kevin Jerkoff Assblaster puts it at).Techno_Union wrote:I never knew that the Sun Crusher had rammed an ISD bridge. KJA fails the ultimate author test, he doesn't even keep his shit internally consistent with his other writing, much less the rest of the universe he's writing in.

KJA is a butt-residing anal-monkey, that's where that came from. How the fuck anyone could combine "Expensive beyond imagining" with "Can be easily stalemated and destroyed by far weaker units" and then expect to be taken seriously as a writer is completely beyond me.Quadlok wrote:Were does this thing about the Executor nearly bankrupting the Empire come from? I seem to remember it being mentioned that construction almost causing several star systems to go bankrupt, but that's it.
It's somewhere in Darksabre.Quadlok wrote:I know KJA is a dumbass. I'm looking for a specific reference. I honestly haven't heard this one before.

Are you sure this isn't like that time Michael Jackson stopped by your house so he could use the bathroom? - Superman

One of the characters in DarkSaber said that the original Executor almost bankrupted the Empire, and the faction that produced the Night Hammer was supposedly spending far more money on military build-up than any of the others, with no results that were readily apparent to the other warlords before their deaths and the revelation of the ships existence.Quadlok wrote:I know KJA is a dumbass. That explains it. I only ever read Darksaber once, and it sucked big time.
How someone could not only be inconsistent with canon and other authors, but with his own prior work and even within a book is beyound me. If a secret installation can make a prototype Death Star and a Hutt clan could put together there own superlaser, there is simply no way that a ship only a few dozen times bigger than a Star Destroyer could be a strain on the Empire's resources.
