The goal of most religious fundies on the Pat Buchanan, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, etc, scale of the Extreme Conservative part of America is to disengage from the world. They want to create a "traditional values" America, with an Israeli West-Bank Fence running from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean to keep Mexicans out, they want to bring our troops back home and, even at a massive hit to our economy, abandon our foreign trade to the dogs.

They're neo-isolationists in addition to be moralists. Therefore, their plans fit in with those of Islamic terror perfectly, at least in the relatively short term, because if they won then the USA would become a willing isolated world backwater with imposed Christian fundamentalism, which would happily let the Islamic world do whatever the hell it wanted to its self.

Furthermore, some of the racists on the Far Wacko have even proposed herding all the Blacks in the country into one region, and letting Louis Farrakhan rule it. Louis Farrakhan likes the idea; he just wants more of the USA and would want to herd the whites into the smaller portion.

This is why even the possibility of collaboration between Neo-Nazis and Islamists isn't entirely impossible - Their goal, making the US government weak and unable to intervene in the world at large, is the same. It's only after that, that their priorities diverge.

The Eastside congregation was planning to open a new church across town, and it seemed natural when their pastor, Leaford Cavin, asked Fred to fill the job. Mark Phelps laughs to hear that story relayed: "My mom once told me-proudly, as if she'd effected a big change in his behavior-that my father had beaten my older brother when he was only five months old. She said she'd argued with him about it and he'd agreed to hold off beating the kids till they were a year old."
