If the U.S. is gone (interdimensionally or however you plan to do it) wouldn't Canadian and Mexican citizens living near the borders see something, even if that something is suddenly nothing at all?
America is still there, it's just there's no communication from it, and nobody inside the US responds to any messages from other countries.
For all the world knows, everybody in the United States could be dead.
Or it's the morning after the First Annual All-American Kegger.
Heh. Funny.

You should include all of North America in this dead zone. Otherwise, you would have to explain why the Canada/US border Customs people (who can literally take 10 steps and move from one country to another) don't figure out what's happening in about 30 seconds.

I've got some more ideas for how I want it to go, oh and Mike, I liked your description of what was going on. "Dead Zone", huh?
I think I'll adopt it as the title, if you don't mind.

Wierdly enough, Anti, one of my first novels followed a similar theme. But I'll wager mine was a tad more surreal than yours will be.

Or Mexico for that matter...
Or every country that has borders with Mexico... or every country with borders with the countries bordering Mexico... and so on until the entire continent is covered?
This would work for a country like Australia or Japan but it would be strange when there are borders with people literally standing next to each other on each side.

In other words, both of the Americas go silent.

Is Hawaii still vocal, or are they silenced with the mainlanders?

South America is cut off by the Panama Canal, isn't it?
To answer Zaia, yes Hawaii has gone silent.

Really? Damn. I hope I don't imitate anything you did in your story by accident.
But the cause for it I made for it is somewhat original, I hope.

I was thinking of putting a couple of members in it, so it's a good possibility.
I'll need real names or made-up names though.
