Wow, thats the lowest I've seen for it so far.
Then again Gamespot has a well known Bias towards X-Box and Microsoft, I would have been surprised if they had given HL2 a higher rating then Halo 2 (9.4 and its 'editors choce' award to boot)...

Well PC Gamer gave HL2 a 98%, and I put their word above Gamespot's.
Think I do recall hearing something about a "surprise", which might mean TF2 is closer than we think. And of course DoD:S will definatly keep me busy for a good long while. At least until
eternal-silence comes out.

Official Halo 2 thread, official Half-life 2 thread, yet no Metroid Prime 2 thread? Shame, SHAME ON YOU ALL!

The first real candid behind the scenes interview between Gabe and the public about the whole development process. Has TONS of info about everything. The source leak, the release dates being pushed back, the Valve - VU fight....

Im gonna splurge and get the gold edition. It is well worth it in my opinion because of all the great goodies you will get and lets face it, its gonna be one of the biggest games this year.
I know I wont be able to run it in full glory on my rig, but I think it will still be great even on low detail setting.

Pity me for I shelled out the $90 for the Gold Edition but that almost kinda chance to win a trip to Valve combined with the Hat bought me(Cause I get a hat anyway because of the fundifying of America few people know what a Lamada symbol means let alone one with a 2 next to it)

I've had it for nearly a month via Steam.

Read it, yes it's very cool.
L O L at the hacker.
"Hello Gabe, I'm emailing you to gloat."
"Oh, so you're the guy that stole our source code. Hey, that was a nice piece of work, would you like a job as a security consultant?"
"Would I! My contact details are as follows..."
"Thanks, now I just need to make a couple of phone calls.... .... ... Hello FBI?"

People are already making a HL2 DM mod, which means we'll just have to wait a month or two for them to release.

I probably won't buy it until
A. I can upgrade my PC
B. can get DOD:S and HL1:S on a retail version
call me old fashioned, but for some reason I just can't bring myself to buy nothing but electronic information. I NEED some hard proof that I own the game

Ah! The lag!
Just jokin'
Seriously, it is a bit slow, and I don't know how to engage cheats yet, damnit. Other than that it's pretty spiffy so far.

They have an option in Steam where you can backup your game to a CD.

I'm stuck! The bit with the hovercraft where you have to open the gates and the control is broken; Anyone worked it out yet?
Edit: Nevermind. Stupid lag.

I guess i'll buy it. Hopefully their will come good mods out for it that will give it longer life. A shame there isnt any descent multiplayer in it (as much as I played cs, cs:scource = yawn). And altough I liked DoD, I really not gonna pay extra for a mod

Wow. Three and a half hours into this game and it hasn't lost its hold on me once. You thought CS:S looked good? Wait till you see a Source product that isn't a mere port, aka the real Half-Life 2.
The airboat part is especially great; non-stop action, forces you to really think on your feet.

Retail copy = Silver it seems.
Good enough.

Yeah, it's pretty good. Mine lagged a lot during the airboat bit, though. Also, I swear Ravenholm has a population of about a billion.
