Bush pardons Thanksgiving turkey

Each year a turkey is pardoned. Wonder what has become of the ones in the past that were pardoned.

They die very, very quickly. These aren't lean wild birds, but overstuffed farm birds raised for the express purpose of being slaughtered and processed to make someone's dinner. A few months after reaching maturity, they're already suffering from hardened arteries and arterial plaques, as well as other ailments that come from being morbidly obese. Almost none of the birds who have been pardoned live more than three or four months after the Presidential pardon.
