This is a silly argument to start with, since this militia would probably be unescesary, and would have support even if it were. But still, if magic (or I suppose a really effective supprise attack) removed the conventional forces from the picture...Col. Crackpot wrote: Hey Prozac, let me break something down for you. For the sake of arguement lets say half of all Americans own guns (the actual number is higher, but it works for this arguement). That works out to be just under 150 million people. Of those people, lets say that only half of them are proficient enough to use their weapons effectively. Thats about 75 million people. Of them lets say only half are willing to fight (which is a vast understatement, but hey lets roll with it.) That would present the invading European army with a light millitia of over 35 million mostly hard core right wing partisans. You would need an army of at least 2 million just to control that uprising, to say nothing of the costs of actually invading. That is a conservative estimate. CHINA doesn't even have an army that big. That being said, can we can the Euro-uber wank for good?
Where does your number of 2 million come from? Is that well equiped volounteers, or can it include conscripts as well?
It seems to me that a lot of these 35 million would be stuck pretty much at home. After all, they need to eat, and they need to look after their families.
Even if they are free to travel, there is no way they can organise into an effective army. They can't form up a battle line and have a shoot out with the redcoats. They would just get bombed if they tried to do anything like that.
So what you have is a load of little attacks on supply lines, and a bunch of heavily armed cities. However, I can't really see how the cities are any tougher than fallujah, except perhaps by containing more numbers.
But some of the nations in the UN would probably not care very much how much artillery they fired at the cities provided they won. Alternatively they could just cut off the food supplies untill people started surrendering.
And most cities could be left alone, so the forces needed would only be enough to win a few cities at a time.
The troops needed to actually keep order in the cities could probably then be raised by conscription. After all, there are a lot more people in the world than the US.
The point still remains though that this would only happen if the rest of the US military could be wiped out first, which is currently pretty much impossible, not to mention unlikely to be tried.

I think actually that these armed militiamen would be more effective spread out as they are because you will need troops everywhere you go to keep the peace. It would defintely be a far more prolonged and economically strenuous to the invading and later, occupation force. If these militiamen engage in a scorthed earth policy it'll be a logistical nightmare especially if you have to feed your army and many of the locals, and if you don't you'll increase support for partisan activity. The only way to arm and support the invasion would be a massive worldwide government is total war production which may leave most of these nations aswell as the US economically burnt to the core.Prozac the Robert wrote:
