Actually it might work. It could be tied into ANH, when Obi-wan walks into the right Cantina, and walks up to the right Wookiee co-pilot. He certainly didn't waste any time trying to search for a ship, so who knows? Maybe they will meet in ROTS.Trytostaydead wrote:I'm just worried about the return of Chewbacca and such.

Yeah, but then throughout the rest of the trilogy and movie, Chewbacca is really nothing more than a pet-dog that can communicate and fly ships.Stofsk wrote:Actually it might work. Man, I'm just waiting for Lucas to introduce a new SURPRISE character. Han Solo as a young ace pilot rescues the Tantive IV from certain destruction (which is how he earns his bloodstripes and Chewbacca's life debt)..
Chewbacca is a surprise character. If I hadn't spoiled myself I wouldn't have soiled myself. Chewie rocks, understand?Trytostaydead wrote:Man, I'm just waiting for Lucas to introduce a new SURPRISE character. And Han is too young to be flying at that stage, unless you want a repeat occurance of 'lil Annie Corellian, the non-force sensitive kid pilot?
Actually, since Harrison Ford was 35 in ANH, (1977-1942) and since ROTS is set 19 years before ANH, Han Solo was 16-17 years of age during the events of Episode III.
Would still be a shitty surprise character, we're deep in the realm of TFN fanboyism here.

Don't remember. Luke was ... 20 in ANH, going from the TESB novel describing him as 23.Elfdart wrote:Ford might have been 35, but I thought he was described in the novel as being only five years older than Luke.

He went up to another Corellian spacer first to inquire about a ship. His was already chartered, so he introduced him to Chewbacca. Obi-Wan didn't go straight to Chewie.Stofsk wrote:Actually it might work. It could be tied into ANH, when Obi-wan walks into the right Cantina, and walks up to the right Wookiee co-pilot. It's Rogue, not Rouge!

How does it undermine that? It just means that he was a lot more decayed than previously thought much earlier than previously thought. His disguised visage just reinforces one of the products of Dark Empire, the powers of illusion taken to the extent of the doppleganger.Steven Snyder wrote:From the pics of Darth Sidious, it seems that GL is primed to bulldoze over the Emperor's New Clones theory that is in the EU.
Whoever wrote that the Emperor needs clones to stay alive is definately underestimating the power of the darkside.

The Darkside Degeneration Theory was that the Darkside was rotting his body away in such a fashion that he had to replace them on a semi-regular basis. Going from a fresh (young) body and riding it as it rapidly aged into the decrepit body that we know from Episode 6.Illuminatus Primus wrote: How does it undermine that? However since Darth Sidious looks very similar each time his face is visible onscreen in Episode 3, 5, and 6, it would tend to dismiss such thoughts. He should afterall appear randomly aged between a young man and an old man if he was cycling rapidly through bodies. We however do not see this, we seem him consistently as an ancient looking human, with heavy wrinkles and those same yellow eyes.
I don't see much more decay between the pictures in RotS (which were in good lighting), and those in RotJ (which are in bad lighting.
So yes he may be decayed, but I don't see any signs of it getting worse, nor any evidence The Emperor's New Clones running around. In fact the knowledge that his visage barely changed over 20 years is indicative that he isn't decaying.

I don't think anyone's disputing that Palpatine's great power has clearly eaten away at him from within.Steven Snyder wrote:The Darkside Degeneration Theory was that the Darkside was rotting his body away in such a fashion that he had to replace them on a semi-regular basis. Practically, this is wrong since Palpatine is not the same body from ROTS to ROTJ. He first started using clones before ANH, and they have an average life span of several years. TESB Palpatine and ROTJ Palpatine are seperated by a year and are hardly incongruent with that clone body's aging.Steven Snyder wrote:However since Darth Sidious looks very similar each time his face is visible onscreen in Episode 3, 5, and 6, it would tend to dismiss such thoughts. Also, the fact we do not observe "what one would expect" in the films does not prove anything. We do observe the phenomenoa beyond the films, and absence of evidence cannot be used to contradict lower evidence. The EU stands as canonical insofar that it does not outright contradict GL"s saga of films and screenplays.
Apples and oranges. ROTJ is a clone, ROTS is the original (and much more resilent) body.Steven Snyder wrote:I don't see much more decay between the pictures in RotS (which were in good lighting), and those in RotJ (which are in bad lighting.
I do. Its called Dark Empire. Absence of evidence in the films is not evidence of absence which can directly contradict the EU. The EU stands.Steven Snyder wrote:So yes he may be decayed, but I don't see any signs of it getting worse, nor any evidence The Emperor's New Clones running around.
Except the EU already said they were different bodies.Steven Snyder wrote:In fact the knowledge that his visage barely changed over 20 years is indicative that he isn't decaying.

To expand, I believe the EU explicitly states that Palpatine's original body lasted much longer than his cloned ones, which deteriorated much more rapidly by the Dark Side of the Force. That's why Palpatine was so adamant about transfering his life over into the fetal Anakin Solo: real bodies are better than clones when it comes to the Force.
I believe in a sign of Zeta.

It does; naturally gestated bodies are closer to the living and preserving aspects of the Force.
