I didn't mind Dex's Diner. It brang the viewer to a kitschier, lower-class part of Coruscant. But, where does the kitsch fit in? Did they have 50's-ish architecture on some planet at some point?

I find it curious that people have a problem with a 50s diner on Coruscant but not with the classical architecture of Naboo.

To me Nubian architecture, though decidedly classical, fit in with the universe as being derived from the artsy Nubian society. It seemed to fit in with what Naboo was and so didn't seem that out of place. The diner on the other hand is totally American 1950s that really seemed out of place with the rest of Coruscant. Besides, classical architecture seemed to me to be a bit more universal than a decidedly American architectural and social establishment.

People are wierd. Most can accept that a highly technological society will have some 'backwards' architecture, but show them something familiar, some staple of life(And the greasy diner is a staple of any well-formed civilization, even if the species has 17 legs, lives in a liquid nitrogen ocean, and eats refined shale) makes a few warning signs go up.

It makes NO sense for her to go up and just be all cuddly right after he admits to multiple homicides.
UNLESS you interpret that to mean that Padme' possibly believes - as others have told her - that Tusken Raiders are sub-human. It's a pervading conception amongst everyone on Tatooine... and who knows how many horror stories she might've heard from Clieg Lars while Anakin was out playing Mr. Hero? To her, it was probably no different than finding out that your local animal shelter put a rabid dog to sleep.

GOOD GOD NO! If some hack actually did in the EU then they need shooting. Repeatedly. And then their work needs to be burned.

I liked the Diner.

I mean, the bar on Coruscant didn't look much different that a modern techno-bar.

Hmm. I could have sworn that I heard somewhere that Ki-Adi-Mundi's padawan was a Tusken Raider. I guess I heard incorrectly.

This is the same woman who, by all appearences, considers the Genosians equals. She shows no indicaiton of any anti-human bias (and in fact seems to be very PC in accepting other species). Furthermore with the Naboo reverance for nature that suppossedly exists even if she considers them sub human it would be like Anakin coming home claiming fifty dead buffalo, including babies, to a PETA activist.

Basically given her espoused ethical position it makes no sense for her to be cuddly with him after he confesses to it.

I think Padme might have some prejudices (who doesn't?) but after underestimating the Gungans I would think that she has a more open mind about other species than just about anyone inside or outside of the Repulic.

So I would have to say that unless she was in shock about Anakin's confession I'm a little suprised there wasn't more of a reaction out of her.

The whole confession scene does play a little bit better with Anakin's added lines that show his remorse and guilt.

I too thought the diner bit was a little odd. I guess GL started thinking about American Grafitti for a moment while he was wrinting AotC. :)

It wasn't too bad though.

I also think CmdrWilkens' idea about the "Geoncidal Maniac" scene would have worked much better than what was in the movie.

What were the 2 other scnes on the DVD? Plo Koon & Ki-Ad-Mundi's fight was included?

He mentions in the commentary that it was an homage, I think.

Tahiri Veila was raised as a Tusken Raider. Since she's from a KJA book, I figure that you'll reiterate your previous statement.

An homage to what though? I'll have to go back and rewatch with the commentary but I still think it was badly played out and could have been so much better with just minor changes.

To American Grafiti. The commentary is actually really good.

American Grafitti of course. You had mentioned it already so I didn't bother rewriting it.

Just another good reason to hate KJAs work.

Dammit Tahiri is one of my favoured characters in the NJO as well, I didn't know her origins were so... shit/

Just a question when you mentioned a Tusken Raider jedi - do any of you have a clue what Tusken Raiders look like under their clothing??

There was a thread about that. Nobody really knows. But humans have been able to blend in and live with them.

Tusken Raiders apperances is one of the great mysteries of SW, along with what Jawas look like, is Yoda's cock green and wrinkly, and did Jabba bang Leia.

We don't need to know about Yoda's cock. Seriously. We don't.
