And saying Americans in general is stupid is just a dumb statement...I could say that about any particular country and and would not be far off...but I don't since I rate people by indviduals and not the general whole, since the masses are usually too enthralled by shiny things.

Ignoring the fact that you didn't have the attention span to read the whole article, I'd like to ask why anyone in the US should care where the UK is? Great Britain ceased to be important around 1940, and you sad-sack Angles just haven't caught up.Bastard wrote:http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/2491509.stm

Exactly. There was no poll asking Americans where the U.K. was, it was merely their hook to get you to read about Great Britian's tourism troubles. Do everyone a favour and read the ENTIRE ARTICLE before jumping on Americans for being idiotic, please. I admit that, historically, Americans haven't proven to be the most well-informed people; however, please make sure the information you base your slander on is factual first, so that you can avoid looking more idiotic than the insults you throw around so casually. The Dark wrote:*Sigh* There was no survey. The guy was using exaggerated humor to show how bad Britain's tourism advertising is. He was saying that while they advertise London, they don't advertise the United Kingdom, so most people don't hear about it. He was essentially making a point that the United Kingdom is heard about as little as a minor Middle Eastern country. Read the whole article, people...sheesh.
Oh thats because a lot if people thunks that Mexico is in South America because they are stupidFrank Hipper wrote:Arguments aside, I remember a survey taken several years ago in which a sizable percentage of Americans could not name the large North American country directly to the south.
Isn't the UK one of the smaller US territories?Bastard wrote:http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/2491509.stm

What's wrong with bashing the US? They deserve it - not every country run by idiots is stupid enough to try to run every other country as well. BTW, I live in the US, and no, I have no respect for our president.Shadow WarChief wrote:I would recommend that you all get used to Bastard's antics. He bashes the United States every chance he gets. I have no problem with criticism of my nation, as long as the argument is thought out and not fallacious. This sort of mindless bashing, on the other hand, I consider to be more an irritation that a criticism. The article was blatantly misrepresented in order to be skewed the desired view, and such dishonesty should not be tolerated quietly.verilon wrote:I second the sentiment.data_link wrote:What's wrong with bashing the US? This wasn't criticism, this was mockery... the latter is not constrained to the same rules as the former.I have no problem with criticism of my nation, as long as the argument is thought out and not fallacious. IQ tests are bullshit and have no relevance to what American students and the American public learn concerning current events, history or geography.Dargos wrote:Please...pease...pretty please tell me that statistic is not a hard fact Mr. Bean.Mr Bean wrote:The Avarage IQ of Americans is 100
