These aren't teaser trailers. The teaser trailer was ages ago. Then there was the release trailer. Now we have these: the television spots. These are about as far from a teaser as you can get without going into the actual film.

According to the VD it was the force lightning that yoda deflected from Palpatine that disfigured him, so yeah it's fan speculation.

Always the voice of reason when it comes to the Prequels. I agree, there really isn't much to get all huffy about. I've actually have been surprised at scenes that look stupid in the traliers, so I'm not going to rush to judgement.
