Which version do you have?

PC, the way it's meant to be played! Well, except for the cool lockpicking feedback.

Eh? I've played it and never found any ammo, ever.

I think the only reason you have those guns is for the secondary functions.

I get the distinct feeling you misunderstood what I was talking about.

You're one for two. In no way is Splinter Cell First Person, or a Shooter. Rather like the Holy Roman Empire.

And Tom Clancy had nothing to do with Splinter Cell, because it doesn't suck. I honestly have no idea why his name is on it.

So are the controls for Chaos Theory better on X-Box or PC?

I'd like to get it but I don't know which one would be fun and which would piss me off, controls wise at least.

Well, I played the demo for the second one on PC, and frankly, the X-Box controls are easier for me. The only problem with it (and this would be for all versions) is that you can try to go around a corner and get stuck on the edge. The controls themselves are nice and tight. The only problem I ever had was whistling accidentally, and after about an hour, I had eliminated that human error entirely.

SC's always been a game that would've benefited from a Thief style community: the SP is limited, but the idea is very cool, and very well done. Extra maps wouldn've been good.

By the way, for people who think that mercs are unbeatable and cheesy, spy aggro isn't dead. Check out the Aqua video on this thread.

Now, of course, Deathmatch games tend to get rather silly, because all a merc has to do most of the time is sit in a corner and camp like mad. No visible back, no neck-snapping. No place to jump on him from, no jump kills. Unfortunate, but true. However, mission aggro is still very much possible, because the mercs need to stay mobile in order to keep the objectives safe. They can't just sit in a corner and expect to win.

As for online training, tutorial mode is in the game, but sadly, it's not 2v0, but rather lets both teams talk to each other over voice communication. That's actually pretty good if you're training a buddy to be a spy, letting him know when you're suspicious of his position, or when you hear him, etc.

I know I've had a few map ideas. The multiple routes from Chaos Theory only inspired me to make them cooler.

Well, didn't Hotfoot say earlier that there's a map editor now?

It was his idea, but other than that he only has his name on it as with the other games that follow his style of setting and real-politik. To say SC sucks because it has his name on is to be grossly misinformed.

There is a map editor, but alas, it is only for Versus Maps. Still, that's not a bad thing at all.

I just can't get into Splinter Cell. I played both the original and Pandora Tommorow, and didn't manage to finish either- there's something about the feel of the games that rubs me the wrong way. It could be how lame it is when you shoot someone. It feels like I'm firing spit balls. That's just an example, but yeah. Not that into it. Looks very cool and everything, but something just isn't right.

Well, just to play the devil's advocate, 5.56 and 5.7mm aren't really known for their stopping power, and you are using silenced ammunition, possibly even subsonic rounds. Headshots still do one-hit kills though.

In Chaos Theory, however, if you want stopping power, you can have it in the shotgun attachment or the 20mm sniper modification. They're loud, but they do the trick.

Nice as shooting through breezeblocks is to kill a guy, I think I'd rather stick with my stealth rather than paint myself as a nice big target for every bad guy within a klick.
