If you're lucky, you can get 3 charge-shots into the Boost Guardian per soldier-mode period. I prefer rocket shots (they seem to do more damage) but you can't get as many off.

Grrr, stupid Boost Guardian. All the other MP2 bosses are laughably easy, then this guy! :D

The final guy in Colony Wars: Red Sun.

All I had to do was park in a shadow patch and fire missiles. Damn anticlimax.

Guy at the end of Summoner.

Yes, I played Summoner. To the end. I know, I know... I have to live with it every day of my life.

Anyway, you meet the 3v1l teh 3mpooorer. He monologues! You monologue! You fight him! He dies!

And that's it.

He doesn't escape, turn into a demon, explode, cackle manically, summon goons... he just falls over. Like the other 342,533 guys I killed to get there. What a waste of time.

Can't remember the name but it was an old SNES game, where you were an angel or something and had to build a town so you get more followers --> more power. To conquer new lands you had to play different levels with a boss in the end. Great game... untill the "end boss" that was basicly killing all the previously endbosses in a row. Oh, and did I tell you they were with 9 or so, that you couldnt safe your progress or not even heal?

Way to go in ending a good game fucktards :x

Seymour in FFX, not even the end end boss but it was the first time you fight him after killing him in the Ice place.
He just cast petrify and then straight away the little floaty thing with him would attack and shatter the stone dude before i got a chance to do anything.

Sephiroth in FF7: No one bothered to tell me that i needed to do every single side quest to get good enough to kill him. All my guys were only around level 60 when i got to him, i hadn't even heard of Knights of the Round.
I beat his first form and thought i'd won the game and then he goes into the second form and supernova's me. 1 guy dead, 1 guy mad and 1 guy a frog. Mad guy kills frog, bugger.

Damn straight.

All of them have half-bar-super-priority-ultra-moves. For fuck's sake, you either find some exploit or you don't win. Nothing to do with skill with how SNK fighting games made a boss.

Actraiser, and that was a shitty way to end it. Right up to that point, the game'd been absolute gold - good dose of challenge, but nothing too strenuous, plus you had the joy of building up your little community, tossing in an Earthquake now and then to try and get the highest population densty per square, and getting all the spells, scrolls, andother things. And then they fuck it up -and don't even get me started on the second game...

They did the same thing in Mega Man X 4, which pissed me off to no end when playing as Zero. Cripes, it's bad enoug you have to get face to face to fight each boss and that only two or three of your weapons actually serve as weaknesses to some of them, but then you go straight to the final boss without the break that you got in the games prior - not to mention that Sigma gets three forms as opposed to the traditional two, and that the final one is a nightmare for melee fighters - but I digress.

The Woodfall temple guardian from Majora's Mask was lways a pain in theass to fight - the only way you could really get close to him was to stun him with an arrow, and if on ran out during thebattle, you had very slim chances of being able to get any from the bushes at the arena's exterior. Take into account those moths which'd mob you and take away half your health and that the boss knocks you awa if you get within striking distance, and you get a battle I'm more than willing to forget.

It took somewhere around a day and a half in-game for me to finally beat the bastard...

I said this before in another Thread and i'll say it here too.

The Harrier and Multiple Rays from Metal Gear Solid 2: RTEA.

The only thing tactical about the boss fights in Extreme and up is the fact that the rules of engagement are THERE ALL NO RULES! Because bosses just own you because they can! and won't even bat an eye!

All they do is use SUPER cheapness and basic one hit kills! Hell anyone can make a boss who can own you like that, it took me almost 3 months of constant playing to finally figure out a pattern to beat both of them!

Harrier: The only way to beat it is to abuse the jumping over the guard rail "animation" in where you can't be hurt or hit or mauled or pwn3d in the face by anything. Though timing is CRUCIAL!!! this is just a matter of using your SP wig and shooting him about 78 times WITH A FRIGGING STINGER TILL HE DIES!!!
I wish we had the armor that thing does in Iraq right now! We couldn't lose with the SUPER DUPER HARRIER BOSS FROM HELL prototype!

Multiple Rays: Having to fight somewhere around 30 of these monstrosities should be a crime in its self. Whit takes over 5 hits to kill them its called Insane. Teverything they do basically kills you and one hit and as you take them out ONE BY ONE don't die... because you'll have to start all over again! The only thing to do is use the SP wig and throw Chaff grenades like crazy!

Part 2: Fight against Solidus = FLIPPING STUUUUUUUUUUUUUPID! *roars in agonizing pain*

I've never ever played against a boss that wanted me dead so bad... even bad enough that once your dead they still pummel you T___T its sickining. :!: [/i]

Well, I just beat the Boost Guardian. I pretty much had to rely on my abilities in the Force.

The original Colony Wars had the worst end boss though. It was the Emperor's Tsunami or whatever the fuck. I don't think you could actually take it down without cheating. There's just no damn way. That is probably the best space shooter sim out there, but that end boss just sucked balls.

You mean the Emperor of Orenia? He's not the last boss. In fact, that's only about 2/3 of the way through the game.

The last boss does, in fact, turn into a demon, explode, cackle manaically, and summon goons.

He's still a bit of a pushover, the only problem is that when he's being all angel form he keeps flying around and you have to chase him all over the place. Then he turns into a more conventional demon, and stands still more.

The final fight to get the last summon is harder, where you have to fight all four Horsemen at once, all powered up.

Anyway, in the Metroid Prime 2 vein, I found the Spiderball Guardian far more annoying than the Boost Guardian. Took about ten goes, especially for the bit at the end.

I enjoyed Summoner, actually. But once you could call meteors, it got pretty easy. Nice little twist with the story at the end though.

As to the topic, every boss in Ninja Gaiden 1-3. Impossible. Only through emulation could I beat those games.

Dracula in Castlevania 1. And every boss in the latter half of Castlevania 3.

I actually quite enjoyed it too. Though the last few areas were a bit of a slog.

Never quite got on with Summoner 2, despite having the lovely Claudia Christian as one of the V/O actresses.

Suppose I should give it another try, one of these days. After Jade Empire, maybe.

Jet Force Gemini. The game isn't *that* hard, but the bosses were just evil.

Try fighting a near-invincible boss with laser eyes, ice breath, a fire claw and something that looks suspiciously similar to Force Lightning. While being bombarded by asteroids. Ugh...

I always thought the bosses in JFG were rather generous, and while a challenge, never really got to me. Outside of the initial Mizar fight, you always got a pre-boss area where you could stock up on health and ammo, and your targetting recticle alaways gave you a heads-up when you scrolledoer an enemy's weakness: from there, it was simply a matter of timing your jumps and sidesteps and nailing the correct bits in the correct order.

If there was one boss that pissed me off to no end in that game, though, i'd be the one from the end of Vela's stint. The first hlf o te battle itself wasn't so bad, but once you nailed the little shit enough, he'd start flitting all over the place while your screen blurredup like nothing else. Grr...

There was this one boss in Super Star Wars on the SNES that was just a bitch and a half to beat. It was two stormtroopers inside some sort of floating vehicle that constantly shot beams of energy at you. It was constantly moving and the only way to beat it was to get underneath it and stay in between the hover-rocket-thingies and shoot the fuck out of it.

That was about a Summoner from the rival "side" of the religion presented in Summoner, right? I never got a chance to play it, but I always wanted to. I mainly wanted to know what ending of Summoner it used. Joseph accepting his predetermined fate, or when he told everyone to "fuck it" and took off. I rather enjoyed the one where he took off myself.

Yeah, your character is an incarnation of Laharah, who was presented as a devil figure in Summoner. Which, of course, means you get a completely different myth structure that doesn't tie up at all with the original Summoner one. People whinge about this, but I like it, competing religions always make up lies about each other, even, it seems, when the gods really are (or have been) tangible beings.

It's really coy about the ending to Summoner, as far as I can tell. Though someone who may well be Flece appeared, apparently looking for Joseph, it doesn't give any indication of what might have happened to him, whether he walked out or ascended and left. (Your character is also queen of her own nation, and you occasionally get to sit and recieve petitioners in your throneroom, and buy things for your kingdom, Which is nice. Though sadly you don't get to visit any of these things you improve, which would have been a real step up, and tipped the game over into the memorable category)

You lucky bastard. Email me your savefile immediately! :)

The MGS2 multiple Rays were stupid. I had to pause, go for dinner, do a bit the next morning, pause again, come back after uni. I mean, WTF? And Solidus du Cheese was quite the lam0r.

RE Summoner, I vaguely remember fighting the Emperor, then it going on some more (I think: I don't 100% remember seeing the credits, but I definately won :S) then the guy that turns into a demon in the big room thing... but he was still way too easy. Not that I'm a reliable source or anything lol.

I wish I could. Too bad they don't still have dex drives for the PC's.

Kirby's Dreamland for the NES. The Level 6's boss was a bitch and a half. It was the black Kirby with the shield and sword. Damn what a rat bastard. Worse than that was after you beat the game, you opened a hard mode, which instead of 6 bars, you have 3 bars of health. Needless to say, I have never beaten Level 6 on hard mode.

Umm, bear with me.

R-Type on PS2. R-Type Final? Can't remember.

Flying battleship: you have to go inside, the walls kill on contact, and the guns on the surface can shoot through the ship without obstruction. Dodging + confined space = bad.

R-Type monster in tank. Fly up to it, dodge it's million guns, shoot it. Camera pans around it, forcing you to fly INTO THE FUCKING TANK where it extends more guns and drops what appear to be logs of shit on you. To recap, you're stuck in a tank, sharing it with a R-Type boss with cyber addons, it's full of swirly shit, lumps of crap falling down to crush you, and the camera circles the monster, forcing you to constantly move to keep up. Half the time your main weapons won't bear on the boss, because you're too stupid to turn the plane around.

It also has lasers.

Stark wrote:::Snip::
Hell, all R-Type bosses tend to be a pain in the ass. Take Third Ligtning, for example: the first boss would soot bolts from the background, then come in and start laying mines all over the place while shooting at you. The second shot eyeballs at you in a complete spread, and all but the absolute tip of the tail would kill. Level three, you hadthespider-thing that you could onl hurt from being btween its body andthe wall it clung to, whileavoiding those block-trail-making things and th boss' own jumping around. Level four, you had to navigate that hideous network of lava pipes not once, but twice, first to get to the mid-stage boss, which deployed those crab-bots on thefloor and ceiling thatsot tree-way lasers, then once to go back to te begnning of the level while backwards, finally getting that boss that zippedaround on that rotating track at ever increasing speeds.

Level five actually wasn't too bad (not to mention it had sweet boss music) but number 6 made up for it: you had the Homing Blue Orbs o' Doom ad te arm lasers, and the finally destroy it when it tried to pull you through teportal, avoiding more BOoDs unil you couldfinally eject your force unit into its maw.

Spectacular music score, though - much as I hate the gameplay, the tracks were te best.

Liquid Snake in MGS ticked me off a little. Don't get me wrong, the fights were great, but after you shoot a shoulder mounted SAM at the guy, throw him off a giant robot, and shoot him for awhile, FOXDIE, not you, kills him.

Annoying: The Vorsoth at the ned of ST Voyager:Eliete Force. He talks on
and on and on and on....I can still hear the babble...your blood will be a sweet nectar for me...and so forth and so on....
Also in the annoying category: FFX2 Boss of 'Via Infinito' Level 60 I think
it was. Your 3 can have a 9999 max of HP, but this bug thing can do well
over 64,000 in damage by zapping you with his tounge. Stupid.

Cheap was the first few bosses of SW: Bounty Hunter in which you are Jango Fett. They were just too easy. Final boss of Resident Evil 4 was
too easy also.
