Are you saying that's what's happening, or that's what they are worried about? Cause I never said that's what's happening.
And a little Nationalism is so bad. High enough to buy your countries products, low enough so you don't start wars.

As for people not wanting it: Anyone who isn't rich and has no experience with the practice of Communism is going to love the theory of Communism. Marxism is about as peacenik and lovey-dovey as political theory can get (once the peoples' revolution is successful, that is).
Yes its amazing what people will believe, the total ignorance of human nature, occasionally i accost the communists in liverpool (theres about five of them, and they are out trying to recruit every sautrday) You mention any problem with communism and they say, and I quote "we're Lennists, not Stalinists."
Then I get them on why did Alexi deserve to be shot in the head?
works like a charm. Divorced-from-reality-fools. It looks nice on paper, and that is the only place it looks nice.

Wow...I wish my country's anthem could be half as cool. As it is I feel like crushing some Nazi scum in my JS-3 tank, with Sturmoviks flying overhead and a few dozen divisions of infantry alongside.

Heard a couple more versions...kids' voices doesn't seem to do much justice to it...

A nice manly choir makes it work much better....

It was written for an all male choir, specifically a military choir.

Well, 50% of politics is wishful thinking, 25% is compromise, and 25% is corruption. In communism, the ratio is more like 75-50, which comes to 125%. One of the reasons Communism failed.
Now,
You dare criticize the doctrine? You will be liquidated!

Another weakness is that there aren't any control over the man in charge. Get a competent premier/chairmen, and the country might do fine. But if the top dog is not thinking about the right issues, things fall apart. For example: Gorbachev(sp?) was too humanitarian. He had too much sympathy for the suffering. He relinquished power instead of establishing it. Economic reform was needed, but democratizing the country was not good for the Soviet Union(though good for the people). Anytime a leader makes a mistake, he pays for it. It takes intelligence and ruthlessness to maintain such a society.

It did- 1998 financial meltdown hit Russia hard. It's not nearly as bad now. Things have been on the upswing for a while but the economy is still nowhere NEAR up to snuff.
