Where does it say anything about Japan getting the "genocide routine"? I know that they're going to get five nukes this time, but most of the nukes are going for the Draka.

That was mine. It popped up in some chats that Japan might get blockaded and starved.

I don't know why that would be necessary, considering that they historically surrendered in less trying circumstances than the ones they're facing (five atomic bombs plus a Soviet invasion of Hokkaido).

I don't think the Soviets are going to really get involved with Japan as much. They've been fighting a holding action while grinding down the Draka for years.

Their level of involvement is greater than historical. Remember that this USSR starts the war with a larger economy and larger population and suffers less damage.
