True, but your behavior to date has been both dumb and naive, not to mention being disrespectful.
2. Newbies are people, and most people get pissed when they poked. No poking.
Bite me *poke*
3. Don't talk to newbies like they're children: they're not.
Yeah, but you sure as hell are acting like a whiny brat, and as such deserve to be treated as one. You come here and act like a dick and you want respect? Go fuck yourself.
4. Remeber, at one time even the moderators were newbies.
Besides the fact that you can't spell "remember", what the hell is your point?
5. Newbie status cannot be bypassed, dont blame people for being newbies.
We don't blame people for being newbies, we just hate arrogant jackasses who think the rules don't apply to them. Once again, you act like a fool, you'll get treated like one.
Since when did I bypass any rules here? I admit that I was a 'whiny brat' but there's no need to keep going on about it. I have the erro of my ways, and I will stop, I promise.
BTW, I know how to spell remember.
It's a common typo. Sheesh.

I'm glad you've learned the errors of your ways. Now you can go be a productive member of the board.

With all respect, you act like you're a major issue around here. I couldn't remember what your name was if I pondered on it all day. Just move on and post something intelligent and people won't give a damn what you did as a newbie.

We here at SD.NET don't poke. That is left to inferior websites. Here, we use the following:
IMPERIAL BITCH-SLAP!
It is a greeting and welcome to SD.NET.

It has no purpose. It's a silly tradition that some members of SB.com brought over here. I am unclear as to its origins on SB.com.

Newbies are being discriminated.
Stop this madness at once.
- Where did you get the idea that we thought any different?
- Why would you get pissed when you get poked? As far as I am concerned, poking is a form of greeting, and not meant as hostile. If people were trying to be hostile, they would use :slap: or :plasma cannon to crotch:, not :poke:.

- We don't talk to n00bs like they are children. We don't even talk to children like children if they make constructive posts. We do, however, talk to idiots like children. If people are talking to you like children, then perhaps it's because you are acting like an idiot?
- What's your point?
- We don't blame people for being newbies. We greet them with a proper poking and then debate them based on the quality of their posts. If the quality of your posts increases (this would mean not posting threads to complain about harmless poking rituals), the quality of debate will also increase.
Hopefully, that should clear things up. However, given that your complaints have been totally without basis and also very annoying, I see no choice but to give you a not-so-subtle reminder that we do not tolerate stupidity on this board.

LOL

Data_link, you crack me up!
I want to say this, even though it isn't exactly relevant anymore, since Mr. LotR/Dino?/SW is no longer a newbie, but...I was never poked. Not once. I contributed in an intelligent fashion that went along with SD.net ways, and was never slammed for being new, because I didn't leap in here and assume that I knew how things operated. I hung around, paid attention, and did things the way that other people did them.
Just wanted to toss that in. That's all.

Attention all no0bs!
You have the right to remain silent until such time as you think of something to post.
You have the right to complain when we flame and poke you for stupidity. WE, however, have the right to ignore these complaints and continue laying it on.
And anything stupid can and will be held against you for purposes of assigning appropriate titles.
You have the right to post intelligent content, and thus raise yourself higher in our opinion, until such time as you are NOT considered a no0b.
You have the right to flame trolls upon sight, and yea, that will make thou a person worthy of respect.
You have the right to run crying and screaming from this board after being flamed into ashes for hijacking/spamming/trolling/whatever.
Thank you. This has been a public service announcement.
And now back to our regular programming.

I don't know what the big deal is, Newbies get poked. I was a Newbie twice, i used to be Muad'Dib but my account fecked up for some reason. I came here coz i am a fan of Star Wars, and i went well off Star Trek about the time i 1st saw Voyager - Caretaker. I don't get involved in too many debated, but neither did i come to this Board and dicate that i wanna be treated this way or the other. The ppl here are tollerant, if u don't like it feck off.
