Sure thing, you do that and wonder why your girlfriend gives you weird looks every time she comes over.

I suppose I would prefer it to be a book about the technical aspects of SW, given the astute author, but I'm sure Dr. Saxton will do well in whatever portion of the SW universe he writes in. I look forward to his latest work.

We'll atleast this will avoid the whining of "he's not qualified to write about this stuff". It's a book about planets. He is an astrophysicist. You don't get much more qualified then that.

Um, not to rain on the parade, but I reported this to the forum several weeks ago, when I found out on Amazon.com.

I even emailed TFN about it right away, but they didn't do shit until now.

Fucking bastards...

Shut the fuck up, Twelve-Year-Old Moron.

AFAIK Saxton has neither admitted to nor denied his involvement in any current projects - he's not PERMITTED to speak for fear of leaks, don't you think that might tell us something?

I'm really curious as to what Amazon.com said, since insofar as I am aware, what TFN reported is pure speculative bullshit.

Well Amazon has this to say:

It's for ages 9-12? That doesn't seem like something Dr. Saxton would be writing.

Well remember that LucasBooks tends to market towards a younger audience and while the informaiton may be of use to us the illustrations and such (as with the ICS) will mark it as a 'tweener book.

Looks like Saxton will have his way with Coruscant, no?

Ordinarily, SW authors are allowed to say if they are writing books, or if they are not, but they are always prevented from revealing anything about the book itself, except for small details that they can give away (little teasers, if you will). Since almost all of Dr. Saxton's work involves information being presented quickly and without a lot of throw-away information, it's difficult to imagine that they would give him a lot to say about the book. Bearing that in mind, it is probably easier for him if he does NOT reveal what the book is about, or that he is writing it, so he won't be pestered by people looking for spoilers.

According to Amazon's specs, the book is 40 pages: seven shorter than ITW TPM book. That sounds alright considering quite a few locations were already covered in the previous book.

I wouldn't be to worried about the 9-12 thing, since that's what all the VDs and ICSs are classified as.

[Edited by me, because I can]

I'm assuming it'll be the same size as the VDs and ICSs, so it doesn't sound like that much of a robbery.

I asked Curtis to make a statement on the claims he is writing another book for DK, and this is what he sent me in email (posted with his permission.)
"I am aware of the rumours about future books from DK, allegedly linked
to my name. As far as I can tell, the rumours seem to have originated in
a 'spy' report and booklist at a prominent fan website, and have been
copied uncritically by other sites, including some online bookshops. I am not aware of any _officially_ released news about the rumoured books, and I will not presume to speak on behalf of DK. I have communicated to the responsible people at DK and suggested that they investigate the
rumours. It's up to DK Publishing to present official clarification at a
suitable time. I appreciate the interest and enthusiasm for my projects,
expressed by many Star Wars fans. "

Curtis.
Now, if anyone somehow thinks I fabricated this, I invite them to ask me to forward THEM the email, or even better, ask Curtis themselves.

So... Amazon is reporting a book that doesn't exist?

Ender wrote:So... Amazon is reporting a book that doesn't exist?
Alternatively its a book that doesn't "exist" yet. I understand that Dr Saxton takes issues of confidentiality very seriously and DK if it is indeed publishing such a book might have asked him to remain quiet until such time as they officially announce it in which case his e-mail seems more to the point that DK should investigate where the leak came from. While it appears to be a total denial it isn't...though I would guess that most likely such a book is being produced with Dr Reynolds instead of Dr Saxton.
