The only downside to this could be that it's unlikely that they'll translate the Fire Emblem series into English for download via thia service. Though maybe if we're lucky, they might support a few fan translation projects.

Buy all the modern Fire Emblem games and write them letters.
Actually, just buy Fire Emblem anyway.

Hmm, regarding that, I wonder if this kind of deal covers both sides of the Pacific, and if you could play downloaded Japanese games on Western systems.

This sounds great! I want me a copy of Super Mario Bros. 3, Starfox, Starfox 64 and Mario 64 for sure. I have the Zelda Collection disk for GameCube so I'm good on Zeldas for a while. Might get me A Link to the Past, though.
Also this move is a brilliant move from Nintendo. They've said that they fear that Microsoft or Sony would copy the controller if they revealed it at E3, so they instead revealed one thing that niether Sony nor Microsoft have a chance to copy. Way to go Nintendo!

This announcement excites me, but in on way affected my purchasing decision. I knew I was gonna by the next Nintendo console as soon as I heard of the Revolution.
Not because the name captivated me or anything, just because I'm a shameless nintendo fanwhore.

One thing I've been thinking of recently....we already know that it's possible for other developers to release their own legacy NES/SNES/N64 games for download (though most likely for a small fee each in their cases)...but would it be possible for Sega to release some official emulation software for its old systems on Revolution, and make those games downloadable also?

Imagine Goldeneye on the Revolution. No more massive framerate drops because of 200 prox mines detonating at once.

...I hope.

Sadly, Rare and Nintendo's ugly split could easily prevent that from happening, which sadly also means no Donkey Kong Country 1 & 2...

as morbid as it may seem.....
What makes you think someone at Sega hasn't already thought of that?, and come to find out, Sega as a third party developer, will release thier old games for PbD (Play by Download) on the Revolution?

If someone at Sega hasn't thought of that, their marketing department at the very least needs to be put against the wall and shot.

Only one thing I can say (and I do hope that Nintendo takes this as a slogan);
Vive la Revolution!

Zelda 2 is hard... Link can also turn into a pretty fairy for some reason.

Zelda 2 is the fucked-up sidescrolling one. It's probably the worst of the bunch.

Well, Rare has been making games for the GBA even though Microsoft owns them so...we'll see.

That'd be awesome. Nintendo games free, Sega games buyable (or you earn them by buying Sega games).

On the contrary, Zelda II is an often-overlooked classic.

Zelda 2 was like Mario 2 in that it seriously fucked with an already-winning formula. There was no reason for that.

Then again Mario 2(US) wasn't really Mario 2.
But from the looks of things...Revolution looks to be the biggest bang for the buck.

at least mario 2 has an excuse for being so screwed up (though i actually enjoyed that game). since it originally wasn't a mario bros title. at all, but nintendo needed something to use, so they took an existing game, slapped in some mario bros. sprites and viola.
