There are 2 arrows next to the switch you used to turn on the "light".

Click on either of them, then click the stairs.
(However, after the blob ate the box, don't let the stairs go left unless you've shot the catapult.)

Argh, that damned mine in the water...it blew up the bike before it reached the gate...how do I get rid of it??

I didn't have any problems with the water-mines. I blew up the electrified thing, and then when I rode into the water I was fine. Did you have the current pulling you towards the door?

...I don't know...perhaps I forgot to turn it on or switch sides or somesuch...I'll try again. Thanks for that remind.

Have the water flowing in the direction of the mine when the blob jumps into the water. It'll float over and blow up the mine.

Yeah, I got it. Totally not worth the aggravation.
