I always figured that Vader wears some sort of dense armor, but I suppose he might have tried to TK Luke's hands and/or the lightsaber hilt at the last moment, but still got singed.

Hey, perhaps that's one of many reasons why lightsabers are so popular among Force users.. because the enemy can't TK the blade. A solid sword of some sort might be pretty easy to get ahold of with the Force.

For what it's worth, the Star Wars D20 RPG states that Darth Vader is wearing a suit of special Sith "Dark Armor" that is constructed using secret Sith techniques that imbue the armor with dark side force energy, thus improving its ability to resist damage. Since it's been one of his duties to hunt down and exterminate any pesky Jedi who are still lingering around it would make sense that he'd have armor designed to offer some additional protection against light sabers.
