The commercialist market trying to shove the holiday down my throat (thus, christamas time tends to start mid-october and gain full force power by late november for me...)
Get your fill of sci-fi, science, and mockery of stupid ideas

Merry Kristinmas to you too, ESB *kisses cheek*Evil Sadistic Bastard wrote:Merry Kristinmas, Zaia-hime!

LOL, if only it was that easy! Peace could reign supreme!EDIT: And of course, I will be nice to people, because Zaia-hime is nice to people and that is what she would like people to do!
Mmm, I love snow too. Not only does it look lovely, but there's something about the way the air smells right before it starts to snow that makes me think of Christmas and lights and hot chocolate and people being nice to each other and fires in fireplaces and cuddling with loved ones. Mmmmm.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Snow.
Merry Kristinmas, dammit!
Hot chocolate, and of course...Zaia wrote:Ok, so maybe most people celebrate Christmas or something vaguely similar (Kristinmas is a lesser holiday that takes place on Dec. 26th; it's the celebration of me--so mark your calendars!!), but the point of the thread remains the same:
What things signal to you that Christmastime is here? Xmas music in the malls? Lights on houses? Something special your mom bakes? Egg nog being carried in the grocery store?
Hee hee...Zaia wrote:And Merry Kristinmas to you too, Spanky. *kisses cheek*
Travel and hotel prices are being jacked up, folks are lighting up their houses like the fourth of July, shopping for Christmas gifts is clogging shopping centers, my favorite jazz station is playing Christmas tunes every once in a while, and some folks are sticking wreaths on the grills of their vehicles.Zaia wrote:Ok, so maybe most people celebrate Christmas or something vaguely similar (Kristinmas is a lesser holiday that takes place on Dec. 26th; it's the celebration of me--so mark your calendars!!), but the point of the thread remains the same:

Yes.Zaku-chan wrote:OK:
1. Your name is Kristin?
This was posted on the first page of the thread:2. Care to explain about "celebration of me"? I've you've done so, sorry for wasting time.
Pretty self-explanatory. I was a punk kid and wanted a day where people would tell me how nice I was, so I made my own holiday.Zaia wrote:No, I didn't say the celebration of my birth was then. It's just the celebration of me. I was actually born in March.![]()
Years ago, I kept asking people what Boxing Day was for, and no one could tell me, so I decided I'd make my own holiday, and my friends and family have been celebrating it ever since!
Hey! Me too!I make Chocolate chip cookies.Good ones, too. (or so I'm told)
Thanks for filling me in on that stuff.Zaia wrote:Hey! Me too!I make Chocolate chip cookies.Good ones, too. (or so I'm told)
My life will not be complete until outdoor Christmas display is large and powerful enough to fool a 747 pilot into landing on my steet, at which point I will scale it back. However, a nice card from NASA would be appreciated. As it is, we get a very sweet, if late, one from the electric company every January.Zaia wrote:LOLRedImperator wrote:To make a long story short, I know it's Christmas when I start getting a strange, twitchy urge to waste electricity by designing a Christmas tree visible from the Space Shuttle. Will your life be complete if you get a late Christmas card from NASA complimenting your decorating skills?

Btw, rock on that you're in Jersey; I was born & raised there.
My pleasure.Zaku-chan wrote:Thanks for filling me in on that stuff.
So, do people like your cooking? I barely manage to take the tray out before I get crazed wolves pounding on my door.
Ack, good point. I should've clarified.Zaia wrote:In my world, there is a HUUUUGE difference between cooking and baking.
My skills line up the same way. My baking is good, but my cooking tends to be a bit...explosive.I am a fantastic baker, which makes me the most popular person among my friends & family around this time of year, all begging for me to make their favourite type of cookie.
And people have offered to pay me mucho dinero for my chocolate chip cookies; they are that good.![]()

However, my cooking skills are somewhat lacking. I'm really great at spaghetti and other pasta dishes, and I make a mean tuna-melt, but other than like three other dishes, that's about all I can do. *shrug* It's really a pity, since cooking is a hell of a lot more practical.
I can do all three.Ah, well. I'll just have to find myself a man who cooks well...ooh, and maybe does laundry too...and cleaning! Yes..yes...*rubs hands together* Excellent idea, self.
