As far as the rest of the world is concerned, the US Patent Office can go fuck itself. The only thing that could possibly improve it is summary execution of the officials who actually deal with the patent applications and then nuking the facilities afterward, as well as summarily executing any lawmaker who refuses to seriously overhaul the patent laws. That's how fucked up it is.

Microsoft has no valid patent claim due to prior art, and if they try to use this shit against anybody abroad, they will get arseraped. The EU competition authorities have just about had it with Microsoft, and if they really try to turn push into a shove, they will get shoved back to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars in fines, repeated every few months as long as it takes for the message to sink in.

And I simply can't see companies like IBM and others allwing things like this go uncontested, it would be too dangerous to let it pass without a fight.

Then I can sue the shit out of everyone for talking! Especially the law-makers, bullshitters and Macroshit are going to get it! Do not use MY PATENTED means for communication without paying, heathens!

Then, maybe I can patent "the use of numerical symbols for phonetically or otherwise conveying a written message" and get those annoying leeters!! And then!! I will patent all written language! YES! The world is mine!!! Bow before me, bitches I shall own the word! (that's not a typo)
