Actual physical violence eh?
Well, I've put more than my fair share of idiots/drunken idiots/idiots showing off to friends (not mutually exclusive) on their arses/out cold. Been in a couple of street scuffles and brawls. Been in a few intercollege brawls where physical violence was the go.
At school I stood up for myself and didn't take shit from people. People who gave me shit learnt that I might have been a nerd, but still had one hell of a temper.
During a single game of gridiron while playing both RG and DT I worked through 6 opposing linemen (4 injured, 2 didn't want to play anymore), the last one just kept on keeping on because he had to. Rugby, I've done my fair share of nastiness to people in rucks/scrums/mauls. Also a few sports related biffs.
Worst I've done, was probably smashing a friends dental work inside out... Unintentionally, I just saw red for a moment after he had been pissing me off severely for the week. Try not to aim for the face anymore.
In sports the worst I've done was probably slapping a guys knee with my helmet on the line from the side after he gouged me on the previous play. He was carried off...
*edit* broke/nearly broke (didn't stick around to find out) a guys fingers after he came at me with nunchuku that he didn't have a clue how to use.*/edit*

I'm asking simply because some friends have been talking about recent ass-whoopin's they've been dealing out, and as someone who's never exactly been involved in a fight, I was curious the experiences you may have had.
I picked up a threw a guy across a room once. He tried to high kick me in the head. He ran off and I let him go. No need to beat him up once the fight is won.
Got into a couple of other fights, but they were less entertaining. The other guy was more concerned about not getting hit then hitting me.

I beat up my brother on several occasions throughout the years, but none too severe.
I've never bullied anyone at school, but if things continue the way they're going now there, I might consider it.

I knocked my sister unconscious once.
We weren't fighting and it was an accident. Scared the crap out of me because my parents weren't home at the time. I thought I might have killed her or caused some permanent damage.

The last fight I got into was as a kid... I was pretty big-sized and a bunch of smaller kids tried to jump me. I basically tossed them around like dolls.
After that I did my damn best to stay away from fights.

How much bodily harm have you ever done to another human being?
Quite a few in intesive care...at very least a good bloody nose.
What were the circumstances?
far many personal relating to childhood bullying.
How many times have you done that sort of thing?
Too many to count...too long ago.
Did you enjoy it, or feel revolted by your actions?
At the time felt jubliated...now fell sorta bad except for 6 cases.
Were you in control of those actions or not?
Always in control...I knew what I was doing and why.

I take most stories with a grain of salt. I know quite a few friends who like to brag about their fighting abilities and twist the story from a one-on-one two a one-on-five!
I remember the last fight I witnessed, I was leaving a bar in Hamilton, ON and I as I was ordering my street dog I witnessed a young male trying to jay walk. He was almost hit by a car. The dummy in the front passenger side of the car rolled down his window and called the jay walker a fuckin' this and that. Of course, all of his buddies were in the car as well. In a split second, the jay walker punched the passenger in the face, reached into the car, opened the door, continued to throw a flurry of punches and then dragged the passenger out to the street (much to the passenger's bewilderment)! The passenger, lying on the ground, took a kick to the temple! Out of thin air, the cops pulled up and as quickly as it started it was over!.
If I could run from a potential fight or walk away then I would. Who knows what could happen...

Two or three very minor fights as a child, some shoving a punch or two and its over.
Sometime between 19-21 ( I cant remember exact age ) I lost my temper in the cafeteria at work. Some smug ass 16 year old accused me and my crew of not working hard, when he had no idea what we did. It was a hard week, and I lost it. I tried to squirt ketchup on him and we struggled for a few minutes.
When it was all over I ended up not getting in trouble, my manager hated that kid and told everyone he wrote me up. He just gave me a verbal warning, between laughing fits.
One of his buddies kept calling me immature ( this was the next day) I suppose it was, but this kid was one of those kind of people that verbally taunts other constantly then cries, when someone finally pops him in the mouth.
Aside from that, Im a pretty mellow guy.

Worst is probably what I did to the 2 ghetto puke wannabes who blindsided and tried to rob me while I was waiting in a bus shelter. Both of them ended up with several broken bones and joints, and probably some head injuries as well after I stomped them in the head to make sure they stayed down. Ended up with a couple chipped teeth myself and had a bad case of the shakes for a couple minutes afterwards.
Unfortunately I look like a harmless and somewhat dorky wuss and for some reason I seem to attract trouble the same way this board attracts trolls. Thanks to this I've had way more "incidents" than I care to remember. In all cases I was in complete control of myself, the only thing I cared about was putting the perps down as fast as possible and then removing myself from the scene and doing whatever's required so I don't end up in trouble with the law.
I find it neither fun nor revolting, it's just something that has to be done. I usually end up with a case of the shakes as the adrenaline wears off, but after a short while I could be sitting in a bar and laughing about it.

What were the circumstances?
at a party. i saw some guy pour beer over a drunk friend. i pushed him away. a friend of the beer pourer saw that and grabbed me. i started hitting him. he started hitting back until be were in an infight handing out rapid punches.
in another one, some guy grabbed my throat for no obvious reason. is hit him, he tripped and lie on the ground. i was in fury and slammed my beercan several times into his face. then took the last sip, threw it down on him and won the style award (damn this sound stupid nowadays)
How many times have you done that sort of thing?
a lot back in the days because it was fun to provoke people until they trew the first punch and then beat them up.
Did you enjoy it, or feel revolted by your actions?
enjoyed it.
Were you in control of those actions or not?
in that particular fight described above, no. i was completetly out of me. another friend had to sepparate us. then a while later i calmed down.
I'm asking simply because some friends have been talking about recent ass-whoopin's they've been dealing out, and as someone who's never exactly been involved in a fight, I was curious the experiences you may have had.
hmm... there´s no problem with it. fighting is part of growing up, i guess. most people grow out of it. a couple of punches in the face don´t hurt much either.

Interesting. I don't know whether it's my personality or a gender stereotype, but I've never actually been in a fight, and I've only ever hit someone once. One day when I was three, I asked my dad where my mom was because she wasn't around, and he kneeled down to tell me that she was at the hopsital because I had a new baby brother (I'm the oldest), so I punched him in the face. I was almost three.
So, that's the extent of my violent past. *shrug* Whatev.

I've never suffered more than a fat lip, actually...and I haven't been in any serious fights. I've shoved, I've hit people with a loaded schoolbag, but there wasn't any serious damage and I don't recall feeling guilty since I felt I was justified. I was the fat kid who always got insulted and picked on in high school
I've never fought anyone in college, and nobody wants to fight me anyway

Nobody wants to screw with me. Good protection being a Lump

worst has a concussion. been a few of them. also broken fingers and toes. think I may have broken a rib once to.
Zaia wrote:What were the circumstances?
most of time its just been people bullying me for months on end, and eventually I've gotten them into a position where they can't run away.
Though once a little mouthy git decided it would be fun to insult me, then run up to me and try and get me into a headlock. I nearly put him through a window and ended sitting on him (I was around 100kg at the time so its more painful than it may seem at first), which is where I think I may have given the broken rib.
Zaia wrote: How many times have you done that sort of thing?
more times than I can count on both hands
Zaia wrote: Did you enjoy it, or feel revolted by your actions?
I enjoyed watching the sods suffer, and it didn;t revolt me doing so
Zaia wrote: Were you in control of those actions or not?
always. if I wasn't then I don't know what would have happened. The one time I have been out of control I threw a cricket ball through a wooden door

Not me. Being 5'9" and 400+ pounds tends to make people wary about messing with you. I haven't been in a real fight in 25 years. There was an incident last year that involved a gun. That wasn't much of a fight either. Even I'm not fat enough to stop a .45.

6'6" and 125kg. Drunken morons love to pick a fight to show off to their mates. I really get sick of it.

it's interesting to note that there's many people here who've done more damage and been in worse situations than me (i guess that's good)
about the worst i've done is removed a guy's finger with my teeth in a fight. (he raked my face with his fingers and lost one in the process)
i've also done damage to some people i really care about, only because when i go off i can't control it, which is something that still hurts me severely, in many ways. over the years of trying to stop myself from ever attacking another person, all i acheived was to basically destroy my ability to feel emotions properly and interact with others the right way.

You haven't been in a fight? Congratulations you are a winner in the Game of Life. Anyone who has started a Fight or has not run away/talked their way out when the opportunity presented itself is a Loser. That's it basically.
Fighting is neither big, nor clever. Anyone that tells you otherwise is too stupid to know better.

Rob's right. This also applies in politics; if you can accomplish your goals without armed conflict you've won.
