So how would Starwars shields handle something like a strangelet KE weapon?

Probably punch a very small hole though it.

It couldn't. A Star Wars type SDI system relies on tracking objects that are at least MIRV size and then blasting them with either lasers, particle beams, railguns or kinetic kill missiles. Since strangelets are mere particles, they won't be tracked by any radar around today, letalone one for use against ICBM launches. And since they move at nearly one million mph, they're going a little faster than your average nuke too.

So if they were spotted in a clump coming towards us, there's really fuck all you can do given their penetrative power. They shouldn't make too much damage though. But if you somehow found some alien race made a particle beam that worked off creating these things and flinging them, they'd be able to cut up big chunks of your neighbourhood anyway. Course, it'd be better to simply throw a 'roid at the target.

I think he meant Star Wars shields as in like a strangelet versus a Star Destroyer :p

This is really interesting. Kind of like my idea for a neutronium cannon. Could make a nifty sci-fi doom weapon.
