What if Federation joined the Old Republic???

In any event, can you imagine the horribly bureaucratic monsters that the Empire would produce, if recruiting from Federation worlds? Imagine Grand Moff Picard...now that's a scarry thought.

It might just be Mike's fic, but I can imagine that quite easily.

I was thinking Grand Admiral Janeway... AFTER she failed Vader.

Oh yeah...that would be good. "Apology accepted, Admiral Janeway." I think most of us would cheer at that point if this were made into a film.

Imagine Picard as a replacement for Tarkin, or better yet, Jerjerrod. Picard as opposed to Jerjerrod would probably make Tarkin look like a Red Cross volunteer, given Picard's bizarre personal approach to morality and unusual manners. My only regret about Mike Wong's fanfic is that we didn't get to see more of Picard's dark side.

Of course, the difference being that rather than fighting a single battle against an unsuspecting foe and nearly loosing anyways, the Federation would have to engage in a lengthy war.

Still, I don't think it's out of the question that a scenario could be devised that plays to the Federation's strengths to the point where they can make a difference, even to a civilization with technology as far beyond theirs as the Republic.

True enough. After all, the Federation is is roughly three times the size of the Hapes Consortium, and they still have shared a significant role in several galactic conflicts.
