I take it you're using the Heavyarms Arsenal pic as a backdrop?
No, although I thought about it. My desktop is a group of ISD's soaring through a nebula.

All four IDE connections are taken up already? What do you have in there?
Anyway, there is a solution to your problem...get an ATA-100 card (which is essentially two IDE ports on a PCI card) and then a power cable splitter (which you can pick up at RadioShack or Fry's or CompUSA or something).

ESB: What's wrong with giving your computer a name?
Nothing. I always name my desktops Floyd after a character from the Infocom adventure game Planetfall.

Ok, you probably have a HD on one channel, and the DVD on another. So, what you do is, put the CD-R on the same channel as either the HD or DVD. If you don't have a spare connector on your cable, you're oing to have to go out and buy one w/ three connectors. Then, Voila! C'est fini.

I have:
1 floppy
1 DVD/CD drive
1 HD
1 Zip drive

Hmm, I might look into that if I don't get the external drive. Would something like that really work? How would I hook up the power cables?

Eh? The floppy should have its own port. It sounds like you have one IDE connection free - unless one of the ribbon cables doesn't have a center connector (like my old Compaq), in which case you can probably swap it out.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. The power cables are easy: disconnect one from your HDD or DVD-ROM, plug it into the splitter, and then plug the burner and the other drive in.

You are only using 3 IDE channels. ( Im assuming the ZIP drive is internal. )
You can add the burner to either the DVD or to the HD. (Im assuming from your description each is plugged into its own channel on the motherboard)
You just need to get a new IDE Ribbon Cable if the one's you have do not have 3 connectors.
Floppy drives are not IDE devices.

Okay, if you look inside your computer, two things should be sharing a cable. The other one should be by itself (ignore the FDD). It should have a free connector - use that to plug in to the CD-RW.
