Which results in the mecha forces promptly diing off from the common cold.

If the mecha swarms kills the MI then they will never come exist. Time its self will not allow the MI to be destroyed. MI win thanks to completely invincible character shielding.

Why the FUCK are infantry still around on the modern battlefield, when they
can die in 5 seconds under a Storm of Steel from a MRLS strike, or from a
25mm autocannon burst from a MICV?

It's because they're hella tiny, and 8 of them can fit into the back
of a Bradley!

Can a 2 story high mech hide easily? FUCK NO!

Can a 6 foot infantry man hide easily? HELL YES!

All he needs to do is crawl into the storm drain system
and he's effectively invisible!

And the entire bipedal=more mobility fallicy is shit.....

Right now, I have trouble with all the ICE on the roads
when I walk my dog, and he has trouble too at times,
while cars simply drive past with no problems...

The real reason a human is more MOBILE is because we're
not as huge as a damn car!

RAH's MI would be able to put up a stiff fight against
most any military force due to their small size compared to
a tank, allowing them to go 75% of the places a unarmored
human can go.....that and the fact that they can carry davy
crocketts on their back...and kiloton level hand grenades...

Of course, if they got caught out in the open, even a Bradley
would kill the MI dead by centerpunching them through
center of mass with 25mm DU rounds.....

There's only so much armor you can put on a human with
a 2,000 pound limit after weapons and servomotors and
fuel for the suit....

I shudder to think what a ZSU-23-4 platoon would do to a MI
airdrop.......

We're going to have Mobile Infantry in the future, eventually,
because unarmored humans are going to find it very very hard
to survive on an increasingly lethal battlefield...

But we're not going to be making 2 story high mecha....hell NO...

I'm tired of you people wanking off to mecha and completely missing
the point as to why infantrymen are still around...it isn't because
they're bipedal....

That's not his point, shithead! It's about technology, not mecha! How can you be so fucking sure we'll learn exactly what we need to build MI? That's his point!

Because sooner or later, the infantryman is going to need to
become armored and self contained in order to survive on the
battlefield of the future......sort of like Space Marines.....

Not much, range is to limited. A SA-13 battery however would have a field day.

Which is the problem with the MI. Against radars with modern signal processors there decoys would be useless and they'd be slaughtered. However back in 1959, SAM's which where effective against B-52 sized targets using conventional warheads had only been around for four years, the MANPADS SAM was barely a paper concept and anti tank missile where things held at the divisional level with 5% hit rates.

The entire point was that RAH’s mobile infantry design was the only
REALISTIC mecha design ever put forth.....not the fanboy wanking
2 story high gundams.....

True. Delete their preferred method of airdropping onto the battlefield
and make them into regular mechanized infantry leaping out of the backs
of APCs, and you’d have a pretty damn fearsome force...

Their suits would make them invunerable to shrapnel and concussive effects, so you’d need a direct artillery hit to wipe out a MI trooper. Unless of course,
the other side goes to brilliant self-guided anti MI submunitions dispensed
by cluster bombs..

Dumb shaped charge bomblets like Rockeye would work against them, but those are expensive and have small footprints compared to normal bombs and shells.

I was wrong.....18.5 metre high gundam translates into... a 4 1/2 storey
high gundam.....wow, what a easily concealable piece of SHIT!

I’d rather take a company of infantrymen hiding all over the place
equipped with anti-material rifles against your mecha......they won’t
be any good after their optical sensors have been shot out by
concealed snipers....

Nah, I'll just shoot your positions out.

Personally, I'd prefer a Geuges or Fuchi/Taichikoma to a Mobile Suit... Unless it's a Dom.

How? Unless you level the entire goddamn city, you have no chance
of finding lone infantrymen lying prone on the floors of office buildings
with 20mm rifles aimed for your huge optical sensors

Not to mention the Dom has such large Fuel hoses.....

A good timed shot and it's a KAI if only from the loss of control.

You're thinking of the Zaku. The Dom series has no visible hoses.

It seems to me that mecha could be used in an armor role in terrain normally impassable to conventional armor.
