Street Fighter had much better games. Therefore you lose.

Highly debatable.

Mortal Kombat also had another movie which was much worse than the one for Street Fighter. :P

I'd say the games are more or less equal, because of the fact that they're based on almost entirely different principles. Nothing beats Marvel vs Capcom 2, while nothing beats Mortal Kombat II as well.

Of course.

Back then, everyone had the same eleven moves.

Super Turbo, despite being over a decade old, still gets national-level tournament play both in the US and in Japan. I'd say that speaks well for its quality.

That, or it just speaks for delusional obsession. :P

Awww, I wanted to see Guile kick Sub Zero's ass. Oh well, still pretty awesome. Must've taken quite a bit of effort.

Capcom fucked around for so long that I stopped paying attention.

Street Fighter 2
Street Fighter 2: Champion Edition
Street Fighter 2: Turbo
Street Fighter 2: New Challengers
Street Fighter 2: Give Us Money
Street Fighter 3: You Quit Caring Five Years Ago

I'd say it's only really a problem if you're some kind of idiot who blindly buys every game, then bitches over all the money your spent.

So, if we strictly count just the fighting, and not Akuma's jumping-in, then the score is one to one! We need a rubber match!

M. Bison v. Shao Khan would be classic!

Streetfighter III Mega Alpha Super Championship Edition vs Marvel Capcom SNK!!! Damn those names were annoying. And can they get with the 3D age already?

As a game concept, Marvel vs Capcom is a bit like The Culture vs Smurfs. I can suck up a lot of BS in the name of game balance, but when the Hulk is punching Chun Li, and she doesn't instantly go squish... Well, piss off.

You mean the EX series? You can find the third one on PS2. Capcom already tried the "2D gameplay with 3D graphics" thing years ago, decided to stop kidding, and went back to full 2D with good animation.

Or when Magneto or Sabertooth survive a Shun Goku Satsu.

Yeah, that's why the Marvel cast was eventually made better.

SF cast essentially got bad DBZ upgrades and still suck in the game at any high level.

But it's still so much more fun to beat down some scrub's wolverine with a cute 16-year-old schoolgirl. Granted, she can learn to throw fireballs just from watching you do it, but still...

And if that fails, whip out the ninja...

I took the opening thing as intentinoally cheesy, but the Liu Kang sound effects were just hilarious. I hope whoever made that is making some more. It'd be ace to see Shao Khan smashing M Bison over the head with his sledge hammer, for instance.

The whole thing makes me want to play my copy of MK: Deadly Alliance on PS2. What was the sequel to that called? I gotta get it.

Mortal Kombat: Deception.

The sequel does make up for some of the shortcomings of the original. Not Tekken or Virtua Fighter level, but they are fun games in their own right.

Who cares? As an actual game, it's a blast.

The advantage of using 2D cellwork is that when done right, the end result can be very high quality action. Marvel vs Capcom 2 on the Dreamcast looks great, and Guilty Gear X2 is amazing.

Why was it Akuma jumping in and not Ken?

Oh well, a great fight.

And wouldnt Akuma take on Shao Khan?

And then....

M. Bison vs. Shang Tsung

Vega vs. Barraka

Blanka vs. Goro

Ken and Ryu vs. Sub Zero and Scorpion

Guile vs. Sonja

Fei Long vs. Liu Kang

Yes, because striving to perfect a game is so much worse than just throwing out a game that sucks and forgetting about it... :?

Anyone who played the games enough to get even a basic grasp of them will tell you that every upgrade of SF2 was a significant improvement over the previous one (except for Super; but that's beacuse it was actually an incomplete Super Turbo released to meet a deadline).

And you're honestly missing out if you don't care about SF3.

And Alpha is a different series from both SF2 and SF3. If you've played Alpha 3, Super Turbo, and Third Strike, and notice no difference in gameplay between them, then, well... you're probably comatose.

And what's with the crap about how 3D games are instantly better than 2D ones? Super Mario Bros. 3 has more quality in one World than many entire 3D games put out these days.

Yeah, that reminds me, I should pick up both for $37. I haven't played the series much since 4, and only started catching up on the story progression just recently on the Wiki.
